[1.2.314] Battlemage Job
Takebacker Wrote:I'm talking about yellow aura. You would think i know how SI works. >_>

You need to learn how to be more direct with your posts, rather than making it seem like you're talking about one thing when you're talking about another.

I have a few questions.

1. What is the battle mage's melee damage based on? (not just the normal attack, but the "X" blow skills as well)
2. Do the Triple/Quad/Death/Finish blow moves work exactly like the "Swing" skills of an Aran?
3. How does Finish Attack work? Is it still not worth taking?
4. Does Staff Mastery affect the mastery of melee attacks and the magic attacks? Or one or the other?
5. Does Conversion just take your total health and double it (taking into +HP items and base health like HB), or does it just double your base HP and then the hp items apply?
6. How is the battle mage's melee and spell miss chance calculated?
7. How do the elemental staffs affect Battle Mage's? Do they affect them at all?
8. Are there any special "class items" that you get for making a resistance class? (for example the evan glasses and lilin ring)

Thanks Smile

Its magic atack so the same formula applies here
2. Do the Triple/Quad/Death/Finish blow moves work exactly like the "Swing" skills of an Aran?
Preety much
3. How does Finish Attack work? Is it still not worth taking?
IDK this one
4. Does Staff Mastery affect the mastery of melee attacks and the magic attacks? Or one or the other?
Magic atacks
5. Does Conversion just take your total health and double it (taking into +HP items and base health like HB), or does it just double your base HP and then the hp items apply?
I think the equipd count, but not buffs like HB
6. How is the battle mage's melee and spell miss chance calculated?
Magic formula again
7. How do the elemental staffs affect Battle Mage's? Do they affect them at all?
We cant know till they get to GMS
8. Are there any special "class items" that you get for making a resistance class? (for example the evan glasses and lilin ring)
The class is in development so they dont ahve any events or anything yet

The fact that only about 4 jobs get an actual use out of it?

but yellow aura requires the other members to be close to the battle mage.

it really doesn't matter though because dark aura will usually will be the on instead unless there is another BM which doesn't seem to fit any decent party arrangement.

all auras work that way

And? That doesn't make SI any less useless than it already is.

1) Xblow skills aren't melee attacks.
2) No. You take the triple blow icon and tap it X amount of times to do xblow. Different xblows have different timings.
3) It's a finish used after the last hit in xblow. It is extremely useful, but not until mid game to end game. It is very weak at first.
4) Only magic.
5) It just doubles it. It's the same as HB. Unconfirmed if it stacks.
6) The same as any other mage...
7) Battle mage skills are neutral. Estaffs affects battle mages the same way estaffs affect magic claw.
8) Not yet.

So the "X" Blow skills are just magic attacks, that have the appearance of a staff hitting the monsters just for visuals?

Yes. There wasn't really a reason to think that it was a physical skill...since if it was you would see battle mages hitting 1s all the time.

you prolly dont get what im trying to say but its ok.

He's trying to say that because of that limitation, SI still holds value because it's a normal buff.

Unfortunately i don't think that aspect of auras will hold true in official release.

I think what he meant by melee was a skill that was only effective against monsters up-close. It's not like Xblows can be used like ranged attacks across the map, and so in the sense of battle style, the Battlemage is a melee fighter (arguably both if you throw in Lightning/Chains, etc., but even "melee" Warrior classes have ranged skills, so whatever).

Even so a physical attack is one that uses the physical attack formula...in aesthetics it would be a physical attack, but his sentence is easy as hell to misconstrue, so...

No. A physical attack is an attack which has no element. This is why you can still use magic claw on goby houses that cast magic immunity. A battlemage is, therefore, a mage which can attack multiple enemies for neutral damage in a hitbox - just like a hero with brandish. The only difference is that because it's a mage that it uses the magic damage formula. But just because it's a mage or uses the magic damage formula does not mean that the damage is magical.

Physical and magic are distinct, it's just that all elementless physical damage is counted as neutral.

How about Evan's Magic Flare? I deal 1 damage on magic immune monsters, but Magic Flare is neutral. ._.

So technicaly BattleMages are a ranged class?
