Lol @ the Hermits glitching BF :f7:
Ohhh yeah this is getting locked soon. `-` Tone it down on the flames & offtopic?

Talking about exp rates is unfair? Oh please. The majority of the top 300 has 4x, and I've managed to stay in the 150-250 range without it (til very recently; 270ish I think? Been busy the past 2-3 days helping paranoid mum get ready for Faye, lol), and only about the top ~50 are 70+. I'm a player who can't buy NX, a perfect example of Strawberries' statement. Will I ever be number one? Hell no, I'd burn out if I tried and have to take a break; even if I could I wouldn't want the attention. Have I reached 4th job & beyond without it, and can/will I do it again? Of course. First time's always the hardest, mirite? Not everyone's a whiner tbh.

The "whiners" may not have been able to pass the BFers, but many of them sure as hell could have passed some of the leechers and they do lose ranks because of them. For a lot of people, that kills their motivation. I couldn't care less about the drama & who BFs and who doesn't, but when people can't shut the pineapple up about it long enough to play the damn game (yes, that IS what maple is), that bothers me. It bothers a lot of other players as well. If I were to quit Yellonde, that would be why. Personally I think BF is "broken", but it's not like there aren't already other things that "break" the game (maybe not as extreme).

Any simple solution they impose to satisfy the majority will have negative effects anyway. Ban them all? Nah, they couldn't get every BFer/leecher even if they wanted to. Lower the exp/increase spawn time/boss flag it? Not enough people would kill it for the maps to be trainable for lower levels & that makes getting the Star harder as well. The only way to "fix" it would be to implement a change to BF that makes it not so farmable without making it harder to get the Star (like making it an instance map), and rollback Yellonde's exp. D'you realize how many people would be extremely pissed at Nexon if they did that? Very few people really care about what's best for the game. They just want what they want, and nothing/no one else matters. This is why you nabz aren't in charge. :B

lol3ampost. Have at me.
Edit: oh 'n before someone says "lolz y u no go 2 target??" there isn't one here and there are no other stores here that sell NX cards.

Strawberries Wrote:Ryan, you are truly not comprehending his post.

Not everyone has access to NX you know. Living out of North America for example, paypal, bank, money, work? That's not accessible everywhere, really. There's things you gotta be a certain age to do and then there's the thing with parents. & they way you said it, is different. Cash shop, yes, everyone has access to it, but NX, no.

If someone has an internet connection and a computer to play Maple, I smell money and work around it. It might be the person playing Maple or not but even then, 2x being present in a Cash shop accessible by ALL of Maplestory's community (Even off ranked players). A person may not be able to use Paypal but PayByCash is there for everyone to use as well. Not only that but a player can also come across a neat person who'd end up GIFTING, yes gifting is another means to get things out of the Cash shop. Also, if all those means just aren't enough...there's always the 'legit' B>NX w/meso way.

You guys are just trying too hard.

o and whoru.

A simple translation of a person that I was talking to on another forum:

Quote:I was with a GM yesterday and checked them out Big Grin

They'll be banned when the 2x (read: 2x event) is finished, 9th of September or around that date.

So, if this guy is correct, the GMs will ban them around that time. No confirmation of this, however, as I don't really know this guy well and can't tell if he lies or not. Though, this backs up that the Bigfoot leveling is a glitch.

A paraphrasing of a post on another forum that claims that a GM informed them who they would be banning in the future (but not now for some reason) without a shred of proof?
That is possibly the least credible source I have ever seen.

Having seen the glitch in action, I have to reverse my position earlier in this thread.

While the boss is being killed with legitimate skills, there is no way this is somehow a natural thing they had planned on purpose. F/P is usually considered the least desirable mage class, but people have made F/Ps for the sole reason of exploiting this situation. And I mean, I know people love hermits, but this is a bit much. This is like the OPQ glitch on steroids.

A boss that yields this much XP in so little time breaks the game. If they don't patch it, it will completely unbalance the game, and if they patch it and leave ranks as is, the top ranks in the newer servers will be completely filled with glitchers. On Yellonde, my guild master is a lvl 77 i/l, and she reports having trained for roughly 18-20 hours a day for the past week of 2x/4x xp. This should tell you something about the people on that server that are like lvl 123 after that same week. Lvl 123 after a week of legit leveling is most likely NOT be possible, even if 4x is put into the equation. How, then, can people take lvl 123 after one week and justify it as somehow "legitimate?" This is a MMORPG, not a console game with Game Shark plugged in.

This happened during a GM event, from what I understood, where a lot of people asked when the "glitchers" was going to be banned.

I would doubt them at any given time if the GM just came up and said they'd be banned, lol.

(Oh and yeah, I've asked for proof, but this is the casual player-type, playing once every 3 days or so.)

For some reason I can't imagine Nexon banning players for poisoning Bigfoot when they never even stated it was against the rules, but hey, you never know.

Then never stated gOPQ was against the rules. They never stated Diamond Glitching was against the rules. But they still banned people and patched the game.

Exploiting any flaws in game design is a bannable offense

Oooh, smartest point yet Big Grin.
See guys,
1. It IS a glitch, dont deny it >_>.
2. It is impossible, even with 4x exp and the occasional 8x to get to lvl 12x in a week, IMPOSSIBLE! (Well unless you play 24/7)

As Is said before.

1. Glitching is Glitching, Regardless the excuse.
2. It's a bannable offense.

Attention Maplers,

We have received many reports from fellow players regarding the Big Foot glitch. It is indeed a glitch and we are working on fixing the error. We would like to remind you that knowingly abusing a glitch to one?s own advantage is not something we tolerate. Those caught abusing the Big Foot glitch will be punished and those who have already knowingly abused it will be dealt with.

We would like to thank all those who reported this serious issue. Your care for the MapleStory game community is greatly appreciated.

We apologize for this inconvenience

its a glitch

Good, I was wrong but it was still interesting to consider the fact that nexon was indeed testing something to see how it would affect the game. I never ruled out that it was glitch, but there was still the possiblity that Nexon was doing this as a test. The immediate effects were insane, but things did die down a lot even though some lucky ppl still found a few bigfoots an hour.

I would have thought so too, but with this comment, not anymore.

Nexon's probably trying to rape the pomegranate out of those players in terms of $, after all the server did just open. When they're done getting their $ they'll ban.
