Time to move on

Swerve Wrote:Fiel has stated that it's not an issue with revenue. He just doesn't have the time to perform all the duties that he has been doing in the past. A number of assumptions can be made about how much SW makes or how much SP makes based on factors X, Y, and Z. But it's illogical to assume that the reason why Fiel has decided to stop running Southperry is because he's comparing income revenues with Sleepywood. It's perfectly fine if you want to view relationships in dichotomies: Democrats vs. Republicans, liberals vs. conservatives, corporations vs. environmentalists. But when it comes to actual application, these relationships are often false dichotomies that we establish in our own minds to make situations easier to understand. Oh I always thought that revenue would be the ultimate reason to continue expending time when you've actually moved on from maple (as I thought was the case for SW and Adura). I mean, it wouldn't seem like a waste of time if you were honing your skills (so to speak) and making a buck. Meh.

Sad to see the place go, even if I've been gone for forever and a half. I wish the best of luck to you Fiel in your future endeavors. Thanks for the good memories.

However, I'm going to safely assume that the point Paul was trying to get across was a way to spice it up. As of right now, it's virtually dead. There's very little information on it and people don't even know where it's located (See: Above). So, if someone were to update it regularly with patch dates, times, update information, 2x times...etc, then there may possibly be hope to bring in a regular user-base. This. I bet some of us would be more than willing to spice it up and keep it updated.

Thanks for this Page. I learned a lot here!! Many people came together and helped each other to understand their life and also Maplestory better.
For me is SP>SW ever! I hope someone will host this Site further! But i can understand your decission Fiel!! Go your way!Take your Chance in your Life! Thanks!

I think it would have been wiser to try a find a co-host in like a month-or-two period of time instead of announcing the shutdown of the site so abruptly. Maybe you have already but it does seem a little too sudden. I'm not sure how fees and administration goes but perhaps you can leave the site on its own and see if anything comes up by itself by other users. Ultimately it is your decision but it does seem sad SP will be gone. Thanks for all the hard work you've put in Fiel, as well as by other dedicated mods and members.

*sigh* Thanks for the time you put in Fiel. You made things so convenient and the information was reliable.

Can't really blame you for this...
But is there any way if nobody buys it you could at least archive the sticky/extraction threads and make that available somehow (I don't know, torrent?) SP is my main reference for a lot of MS stuff I can't find elsewhere.

ImagineAll Wrote:Past extractions were far more informative and useful (to him) was the point he was trying to get across.Yes, I believe he was trying to get across that the site, in its current state (as it is now, I would describe such a state as "falling apart" or "falling through the cracks"), doesn't need extractions. They aren't a necessity nor are they imperative to have in such a situation. However, in the past, they were imperative to bring in a steady user revenue.

Fiel Wrote:Does anyone see these two posts as contradictory? No...? The former says he needs extractions. The latter says he thinks extractions isn't fundamental to the site. Not necessarily not fundamental to him.

Fiel Wrote:Does anyone see these two posts as contradictory? The two threads are kinda operating under different assumptions. In this one, I was under the impression that Southperry will be vanishing entirely if nobody steps up to buy it and assume responsibility. That being the case, I would want the most unique content (largely Training Centre stickies, though the foreign version extractions are useful reference) to be preserved somehow. In the other thread, you're asking which position the users want to see you in in future - the current site content would not be significantly affected, making my post in this thread not relevant. So I guess it's more a response to your option C in that thread, 'do neither'. Southperry's already lost the main extraction database (full GMS information) and seems to have survived that ok (although I miss it) so cutting back a little more on extractions wouldn't be the end of the world. Especially if someone like Korstantetov who has their own extractions were to step up into that position, I feel it would have less of an impact than changing the leadership of the site again.

you will be missed and your contributions have been priceless. Reminds me of the time in my maple life when a person named sunbeam quit, this however is much more significant.

I haven't been here very long and now you are shutting down the best Maplestory site?
![]() Sad day. Sad day indeed. ![]() I loved the extractions. Everyone around here has treated me well, unlike other sites. This felt more like home, even though I mostly lurked. I hope someone can take over. Good luck Fiel. I'll miss you and everyone here. Thank you very much for all your hard work. ![]() ![]()
