The first thing that comes to mind is... less airbrushing/blending? Her skin looks too perfect. Also like RobMzda said, her eyes appear a bit large for her face. Also maybe a hint of a crease on the upper/lower eyelids?

thanks for the lovely feedback. ahh, true, the airbrushing! have been looking up skin tutorials and think will have another go at taking away the plastic look. see if it'll work. and good point with the eyelid crease. i could make one in the thick upper eyeline. it was originally an even bigger eye... there's only a thick black line up there because the eye looked too big, even to me! but clearly i should shrink it some more.

another wip on tinuviel, dress (layer at 50% opacity) and body are just ideas at the moment so probably out of proportion.

Hmm, Ji, my biggest suggestion would be maybe to make her upper lip larger than her lower lip...I don't really know what else to do, realism and copying people is definitely not my forte. hehe.

good work though, looks good, though the body is a bit off--but I'm sure you'll fix that as the painting progresses.

- pulled one eye lower than the other

interesting, her eyes look more like the first wip now. and her mouth is still not satisfactory... seems too big?

ahhh, have been told repeatedly by fiance to stop drawing random people, rofl, we'll see. thanks again for your insightful feedback, even if you say it's not your forte!

23 May 2010: hello everyone!! Old thread! yes I am sort of back, not too sure how long it will last as I am studying again soon. quick update since last year: failed my clinic paper twice, had to drop my masters but still graduated with something else, now waiting to study again in July for web development. Got married this year to an amazing husband. Goodness, a lot of my life has changed since I was last here. what else - Still anxiety and AS but have skills to cope with it now, trying to press on and do something useful and meaningful in my life

In the meantime, some painting from the last few weeks. Can't really update EVERYTHING that was in the old thread, but ah, can't be missed that much. My dA is visible from the massive watermark I put on most of my stuff. missed this forum, i see it's changed too. take care!

mmm awkward poses. maybe some speed poses are in order. and hands.

hmm, it's just been 24 hours (and a lot of painting) so i guess i can double post?

4-5 hours, dismal attempt at speedpainting. OC "Ramuri" belonging to Crystal_Nightfall. didn't use a reference and tried to invent a "dynamic" pose, which most likely took up the first 3 hours and ended up not that dynamic. not happy with colouring (though a green OC is fantastic), realism dropped due to lack of time. guess it's reasonable for a stylised look but wasn't what i was aiming for - oh well.

wildly distorted caricature of my husband lol. part of a very rough draft for current project (not a speedpaint). wip here - imagine his face inserted somewhere around the big question mark.

The caricature of your husband is adorable, and so is the bigger piece.

In your Psychotic Stalker painting, I don't know if it's just me, but his right arm (on our left) seems a bit longer than his left arm. Also, I think you're being too hard on yourself on the "Ramuri" piece, I think it looks great. Did I mention I'm so glad you're posting again? =)
