Cake Vs. Pie: Fail Event. GG Nexon.
#1
Well every time I've tried to participate in the Cake vs. Pie event for insignias, all it ends up being is a massive orgy of players that clog up the channel so bad that it crashes. When the channel crashes, it says I didn't participate in the battle, therefore, I get no insignias.

Is it just me or is this one of the most poorly designed events in Maplestory history? Nexon doesn't even know the capabilities of their own servers, and having an event that requires EVERYONE to be in the SAME GODDAMN MAP is just begging for a crash.

Has anyone had any success at getting any insignias? (I'm speaking on behalf of Bera of course, I'm sure Scania and other largely populated servers have similar issues. The smaller servers might be okay.)

I was able to get 6 insignias earlier today in Windia. I entered channel 2 after the pie boss had already died, but the boss fight timer was still ticking down. You're completely right though. This event is very poorly designed not just in terms of channel crashing, but at a base level. I've noticed the bosses are so easy to kill that it's actually BAD for your side if you turn in cake/pies to your NPC. Whichever boss spawns WILL die, so the team that spawned it will lose that town.

Broa had a pie boss today and it didn't die.
The next, pie died, and once other people came, the channel crashed. :/

After d/cing like 3 times and "not participating" in the event, I decided to hide in a corner until other people kill the boss. Then I get my insignias :3 only 12, I have a feeling there wont be many of those chairs..

They probably miscalculated the popularity of the event.

Well, events are always most popular the first few days they are around. Afterwards, they tend to die down to the point where no one does them anymore by the end of the month.

Insignias really should drop from the monsters inside the MD. I don't care how low the droprate is on them, there should be another way to get them instead of lagfest 2010.

Wow, bullshit.

I just survived the battle, survived the lag, my team won. Only to find out that you need to have turn in some arbitrary untold number of quest items in order to claim a single insignia.

Thanks Nexon.

It was stated in their description. I'm only unsure of the exchange ratio, which is the sole reason keeping me from walking away from this event for good.

Fail event. Guess I'll stick with making money off maple equips (dropped a Maple Shield today ^^) and playing normally.

I did it a couple times in Demethos today.

The lag was worst then any lag I ever experienced while I was still an Active player in Scania during a x2 event/huge ass content update.

Thats saying something.

Im not entirely sure, but I think the conversion would be 20 cakes/pies = 1 insignia, as my team won, and I got 7 insignias, and I traded in roughly 120-140 cakes.

This would mean if I want the 550 insignia chair, I would need...11,000 cakes...um...yeah...that's a lot of work...Im tempted to revive my pet.

This is the worst lag I have ever experienced since fighting the snowman boss with the snowball 'arrows'/stars in the Christmas 07 event. And the channel didn't even crash then, compared to this event.

How bad? THIS BAD:
(Try to count the amount of people in that picture. Including the red dots on the minimap.)

Thanks for posting that. Here I was with my 20/insignia hypothesis thinking I had to collect 11k...I was going to collect 11k and turn them all in at once, and that would've been bad.

So, if you managed to get insanely lucky it would only take 165 hours to get the chair that costs 550. Wonderful.

That's one way of looking at it.
Another would be to say that you need less than two victories a day, each preceded by donating 401 cake/pie pieces, to get that chair.

Not that I have a chance. Those towns lag me even when they're empty.
I wish the bosses spawned at random, in all towns, like two years ago.
