Just finished Skies of Arcadia, playing Alundra now.

Bioshock 2

Playin' me some Soul Silver.

Back on WoW, and 2nd run through of FFXIII.

Finally beat Suikoden, had numerous distractions:

 such as...

Beating Super Mario 64 again, but for first time on VC
Getting half way through Paper Mario on the VC
Giving 3 new games a "quality test" (usually I spend 3 hours into a game without saving if it's used just to be sure it works. once got a copy of FFX that worked for about 1.5 hours, but would always crash when entering the first temple)
Found a java app game called MineQuest and lost 3 days digging a hole and making a staircase -_-
Got Aran to 50
Got Evan to 30
Going back and forth on websites to see whether or not I should keep the 159$ credit I have on one site for Suikoden II which may never be in stock there or spend it on 6 of so games and save up a separate 100 for it on eBay
Taking down wall mounted media storage for risk of another earthquake
Class junk

As for how I feel about it:

Another thing I'm not so fond of. Ending with all the character's life stories after the game ends. I know there are sequels, but it just always gives me the feeling of "They all lived happily [or not] ever after... now forget about them, they lived out their lives and your done with them so stop thinking they have another adventure. Ordinary lives are fine too.

I dunno why, but I just don't like closure like that. I'm fine if you end it where everyone is happy together right after the climax, but having to state that they all go they're separate ways and never see each other again bothers me.


Another thing. Saying something about a person's goals and leaving it be/areas that look eventually accessible but never are. There were a few characters that mention their personal goals here and people they seek, but never get around to doing anything to that end in this game. Again, I realize this has a sequel, but it's another of my pet peeves. Worst one in another game for me was an underground treasury at a mayor's place where the guard says your not allowed in without permission, and it looks like a fully accessible area, but it's never mentioned again once you pass by the area.

Anyway, regardless of pet peeves, it was a good game. Thinking about the time of release, I'd say this was a masterpiece of it's time. Maybe I've been spoiled, but I thought that the characterization could use just a bit more depth to be a timeless classic. Just wish I had the next one lying around somewhere right now. I could always go back to that guy I bought it for and ask him to lend it to me... after all he owed me 40$... then aagin, I haven't seen him in 4 years so it might not be the best greeting.

As for what I'm playing now, the next ratchet game and persona 4 have gained my interest while I was testing them, although I really should get to finishing some of the old ones. Gonna see if I can go back and finish Xenosaga II or La Pucelle for now.

Seeing as it's been a couple weeks, I'm gonna double post here.

Finished Rhapsody, Ratchet: Deadlocked and somehow got my hands on a copy of Suikoden II. Most likely going to throw that in very soon.

 Synopsis of Rhapsody

Well, let me start by saying I'm glad I'll never watch that OP song again. This game made me think to all the Japanese songs I've ever listened to and realize how stupid or outright embarrassing many of them sound if I were to hear them in English. I suppose that even though I understand bits and pieces without subs, it isn't a primary language for me so I don't get embarrassed by words that should do so. Regardless, once I got past the fact that in the game's title, it was called a "musical adventure" I looked at it as a middle-school play instead and found myself able to tolerate it more; since I've played a main role in a musical way back when too.

Another thing. Atlus really seemed irritable and egotistical when translating this game. All those bookcase remarks, references to other games Atlus translated and hinting them to be "too dirty", even breaking down the 4th wall and saying "well that's what happens when you make a direct translation". I'm not sure if that's how the content was initially portrayed but it just seemed to add too much of a modified touch. It didn't really affect the main storyline or any dialog, so it wasn't too big of a deal.

My last little gripe is about the difficulty. The game was way too easy. You can beat 75% of the game's bosses+spawn with a technique you know from the start and costs 0MP (after certain conditions are met) in one turn.

Other than those issues, I think it was a decent game. Nothing award winning, but playing it once, I wouldn't go back and call it a waste of my time. Oh and the pause anytime glitch after seeing the credits was fun.

By the way, this thread seems dead. Does that have anything to do with the implementation of blogs here?

Well, I've been around on the internet for a little over 14 years now, but I've never really gotten into social networking stuff like Blogs or whatnot so I was wondering what their premise is. I noticed earlier that self-oriented topics should be placed there and beyond that I'm not certain what should go there. I've had a few ideas for discussions for a while a long with a few short personal rants that I don't expect responses from and I've had trouble figuring out where they would be most appropriate. I've heard that the Funhouse has become degenerate cesspool so I'd rather not place topics for discussion there, but at the same time some of them aren't really overly intelligent or rants. For example, "What's one thing about yourself you don't think anyone else has experienced?". I'd wager that the first response I get will be to just look up the textbook definition of a blog before asking questions, but I'd prefer to know the appropriate place to bring up certain things. Especially if this thread is dead, I'd like to know whether or not Blogs would be the appropriate stomping grounds.

Beat Alundra just a few days ago, played the whole thing without a walkthrough. So many times I would get stuck on a puzzle and just put it down for a while and later on when I finally solved it, well, it felt so rewarding.

When I wasn't playing Alundra, I was playing MapleStory. Got my Evan to 4x and quit it, got my Aran from 5x to 7x.

I'm not sure of what I want to play now.

Currently playing through Professor Layton and the Curious Village. I've only used a walkthrough once: it was actually for Matthew's roadkill dog puzzle in the beginning of the game. I had a hard time figuring out how the game wanted me to sprawl out the dog's legs, and so I wound up checking a walkthrough to see how it was done. As of now, I finished Chapter 4 and should be starting Chapter 5 next time I play.

Also, still playing Soul Silver.

Amazing game. I guess the puzzles are really memorable, because I know exactly which one you're talking about. I had to use a walkthrough for the chocolate puzzle and the very last sliding puzzle at the end of the game.

Final Fantasy 8.

Going to wait til the next Persona game comes out for PSP.

Finally beat Cid Raines in FF XIII so I can actually move past this 1 month block. DFO/Maple when not on Ps3.

Twisted Metal: Head On: Extra Twisted Edition. Then I am going to play through Black again. And then 2.

After about 30 hours of straight gameplay, i finally finished Just Cause 2 with 28% completion.

Amazing game, though i thought the ending kind of sucked.

I should be playing Just Cause 2 but I haven't touched it in a couple weeks. But I got PixelJunk: Shooters last night and I'll probably play that for a while.

This thread has it's ups and downs, they're in no way related to the blog system. Your little review things would work just as well there but they're infinitely more likely to be seen here because very few people actually check blogs regularly.

Anyway, right now I've got a load of games on the go.

Replaying Suikoden 3, 5 and Tierkreis. Just re-beat 4 about a week ago. What an awful game that was. Makes me sad that it's a Suikoden.

Also sort of re-playing Star Ocean 2, and ...playing Lunar for the PSP though I've beat the PS1 version of it before and this is no different.

Mostly I'm just waiting for Red Dead Redemption though.

Got HeartGold in the mail yesterday, FF13 on the 360.
