Service Pack 3
#1
Well, service pack 3 is out for Windows XP, but... my computer hasn't downloaded it. I've tried manually searching for updates, but it still doesn't show up. Is there something special I have to do to download it? I have genuine XP. ._.

To my knowledge, you can't update to other SPs, but that just an assumption, I could be wrong.

You should be able to get it through Windows Update. If it doesn't show up, that's pretty weird. Have you installed any pre-release versions of SP3? If you have, you need to uninstall them before installing the final version.

Right click My Computer and go to Properties to check which Service Pack you have installed.

You can install SP3 manually by downloading the installer from here.

Nope, I'm running SP2, and I tried Windows Update.

Did you read Yoorah's post? She said to go here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...layLang=en download the whole SP3 (316.4MB) and run it.

I believe it only shows up once you download every single update preceding it.

SP3 includes ALL the updates/hotfixes from SP2 til now...or when it was released.

I've heard that people get some problems with SP3, but yeah it's what I heard. I'm going to try to avoid getting it unless it's really necessary for me. Don't need to fix what's not broken, right?

Well...that's if it isn't broken to begin with...but I guess if you're not having any problems with your SP2 then w/e you decide. Apparently SP3 gives a 10% performance boost :S.

I did hear people having problems with the Vista SP1, some people had problems with SP3 but I think they were the RCs and they're fixed now.
