5 Questions for MapleStory Publisher Nexon
#21
Magic guard would have been worth about 40m in the FM anyways if it was dropped by a monster, how many of you actually hunt for every book your class needs, how many of you buy your books in the FM? Well, for as little as 15m, you could get your magic guard book in the CS. Get over it already. Just wait till when that book is dropped and everyone overprices that book because it's actually needed. It's going to get more expensive once it's dropped and removed from CS.

Big assumption there that they're going to remove it from the CS. Why would they remove an item that magicians will still want?

Not to mention that they come with free skill points, so some people will always choose the CS version.

And RIPGobies: sure some people would buy them, but the OPTION to hunt for them would be there for those without any of the previously stated means.

Quote:Absolutely free. There are no level restrictions or limits on any of our games and you can enjoy playing them as long as you'd like without spending a dime, which applies to the majority of our players. The items provide conveniences, and the ability to personalize and customize your game experience, but are not necessary to fully enjoy the games.

AHAHAHAHA thats funny.

and yeah. saying that there will be updates in the games is such a surprise :O

Kind of an useless interview if you ask me, They should have made players ask questions and then pick some

Yeah that's gonna change once they realize how well it would sell in America..

That's the problem. It's not exactly meant for you. This interview seems to be veered towards a newer audience.

And yes, Stereo, I agree. Letting the players ask questions isn't always the "best" thing to do.

The Korean market is much larger than the American market, if I recall correctly. I can see some advantages of bringing it to America, but they were already having issues making the game in the first place, so I'm going to safely assume that translating everything to English would be just as troublesome.

Sarah Wrote:Quoting myself from earlier today in the Magic Guard topic

You don't need money to make money, if you're too lazy to kill area bosses and do quests for scrolls, then you'll just have to deal with having level 5 magic guard until you raise the money. Even any new level 35 player can kill enough area bosses, do quests, or cpq for gephart coins. Having a main character makes it even simpler with time piece hunting.

How do you propose to sell these items without a store? Stand in the FM entrance where many people lag out, get DC'd or scammed? Beg to join a guild only to spam them with S> crap I don't need?

1. Farm CPQ.
2. Buy Gepharts.
3. Sell them to an NPC.
4. ???
5. Profit.

The point of buying gepharts is to NPC them.

Put the scrolls into MTS directly, sell in FM entrance (don't see why this is impossible), basil, etc.

Be realistic. Like Sarah said you =/= everyone else. If there's a newcomer to the game, he/she will know all the prices and stand in FM trying to sell it, he/she will know how to use MTS, he/she know what to buy with their CPQ coins, etc. That person might even have to upgrade his/her gear. Oh, right. I could go and hunt area bosses. If drops were even reasonable, a lot more people would hunt bosses, I'm sure of that.

He/She would know that Magic Guard has a higher level than 5.
There's a lot of "If and then"s we could say in this situation. You can always assume the worst, but most of the time people are more competent than what people expect them to be.

What he meant is that you have to invest a much higher amount of time and effort into getting the items to sell, and that nt every new player knows or has access to being able to find out what drops the best items, or even be able to do so. I know that it's incredibly difficult to hunt area bosses, due to them being camped by lvl 140+ players, and you can't always assume stuff like this.

Just because there are side ways and long roads that can gain you items to get things, does not mean that every person in the world knows enough about the game or the market to be able to get it of their own means.

Time = Money is a common phrase. In the case of these books: Time Spent > Money Spent.

Is this conversation a logical one or a realistic one? because if its logical i have to agree with those saying there are ways to get those books without spending a dime. but realistically, how can expect a new comer that decides to create an evan, who is so poor that cant afford pots and relies on his beginner chair to heal his MP and keep on training... to make 60 milion mesos and then transform them into NX for those books?.
In my opinion, NL's were always the worst class for people to start with. but now it is Evan.

I understand what he's saying, and I agree, but someone who can barely afford potions because of their inability to gain mesos won't last long enough to even worry about the missing effects of magic guard. Sooner or later they'll have to find a better means of mesos.

Also, if someone doesn't know much about the game, they won't even know that Magic Guard can go higher than level 5. It's not like they will just go into the cash shop one day and say "Hey, I'm going to look up a Magic Guard mastery book!"

I started an Evan with zero funding. I have done a lot of quests, still using my beginner equips and been miserly with my pot use, at lv 32 I have roughly 50k meso. Someone new to the game isnt going to find it easy.

Just in terms of 1st job pot burns, Thief/Bowman seem to have it worst. Magicians have MP regen to take care of their MP and 1st job warrior stuff doesn't cost as much (plus, mobbing skills save on mp) - but L7 and DS are kinda expensive when the monsters only drop 30-40 mesos. Especially for bowmen who can't guarantee 1hkos due to lack of mastery.

The gear thing is really not as big a problem as some people make it out to be, yes claws and thief gear in general costs more - but thieves are also full of profitable skills. With Drain, Meso Up and Alchemist, it's very easy for a Hermit to make money.

I'd say Evan have definitely taken this over though, no MP regen + expensive books = huge cost to new players.
