Is it okay to hug a friend who is dating somebody else?

I would especially be annoyed if someone were to hug me and my significant other got pissed at that. It's simply a sign of friendship.

The only way it's not okay is if you're trying to piss off their significant other or are trying to get into their pants yourself. Or if your friend doesn't want you to.

Otherwise, friendly hugs are always fine.

TBH, thats so childish, if a bf/gf does not allow their significant other to hug someone of the sex they are attracted to then the significant other should break up or talk to it with his/her bf/gf UNLESS the two huggers have feelings for one another. then its different.

Where the hell is this question coming from? Regardless of any status or label one may identify with, hugs are always and forever appropriate.

God forbid one of the people who voted no goes to Europe with their significant other and has to cope with kisses as a form of greeting.

God damn, I voted no because I felt hugging someone who is dating another is wrong if your intentions are not that of a quick hello or goodbye, which is not specified. So I took the safe route and said no. Embraces are never appropriate when the other party is in a relationship.

I voted no. Up until today, I have never hugged anyone beyond relatives and close family friends that I can remember.

Lets say, John and Jen are dating, john gets shot, is in a coma so her best friend who happens to be a male named Vince comes in and hugs her because she is sad. That does not constitute hello goodbye, it's not appropriate.
