You'll notice that most of those areas were modified into what they are today, not completely thrown out.

Reviving this because according to Serebii.net more 5th gen stuff will be revealed in Pokémon Sunday. It seems like we might see something like the starters soon.

All that's said was that a Pokemon will be appearing, right?

Oh, yeah, I knew about this. It says nothing about a starter, just that they'll reveal a Pokemon. For all we know, it could be an evolution/alternate form of an existing Pokemon, I don't mind evolution, and I hop they don't pull off that spike eared Pikchu crap again.

According to the preview of next week's episode and its title, a new Pokémon will be revealed May 9 on Pokémon Sunday. Shoko-tan will reveal the new creature during the games segment of next week's broadcast. This would be the third Generation V Pokémon known to the public.
