They're colors. It's a poorly executed joke that's so obvious that anyone can make it.

Side note - You know what I miss? Color coded game carts. It was pretty cool seeing people with red or blue game carts sticking out their gameboy. I thought they would at least bring that back for HG/SS for nostalgia purposes, but instead the cart for Soul Silver is pitch black. As in, it's darker than any other DS game I have, which are usually gray. Would have been nice if Black and White versions were actually black and white, but that's not going to happen. Especially since people would probably go more with white because it stands out more than black when inside a DS.

Even in a white DS, having a white cartridge stands out from other games. I had a Yellow Gameboy Color, but Pokemon Yellow version was different colored from every other game (aside from Donkey Kong Country) so still stood out. Meanwhile, if you had a black cartridge, it wouldn't stand out as much because it's almost the same color as the other DS games. Pokemon silver had this "sparkle" to it, and was a shade that really did look different from other Gameboy games.

I agree, even the Gameboy Advanced had coloured cartridges. Such as Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, and LeafGreen. Making coloured cartridges for the Nintendo DS would be rather pointless for these Black and White versions, but if it was for HeartGold and SoulSilver then a nice shade of Gold or Silver would have been at least accepted.

The female protagonist has a ponytail-styled hair.. +1 for me. Might get it. Another +1 for 3D surroundings. I'll gladly buy a DS to play that. Seriously. I can start getting into competitive 5th gen battling too, then make a competitive 5th gen team and play WiFi. Assuming all of you will play online by the time this comes out!

Impressions of the male player character: Okay.
Impressions of the female player character: I can dig it.

I love the new 3D updates that have gone into the game too. The pictures of the city looks really nice.

I like it all. I've been waiting to change the battle scene exactly like that for the past few games. The new way you watch over your character is also great. It'll take some getting used to, but I guess its not too different from Pokemon Colessium and XD. Now some official art of more Pokemon or the Protagonist would be lovely.

The guy character looks awesome, he sort of reminds me of Digimon for some reason. I didn't think they'd give the girl character a ponytail, she's okay though. The city and town look nice too.
