I know you're joking, but it's the stupid "which version is better" discussions that make people even think about race in the first place. They're the same game, and it's been that way since Red and Blue. The only difference will be about 10 exclusive Pokemon that you can trade for. I did not even think about racial implications when I saw this thread, and I don't believe there will be any PC name changes needed. They're just colors.

Pokemon Black & White was a joke back then when R/B/Y existed and first released in America. It was literally a 'joke' on the internet back then, iirc. Now these are actually versions, lol.. I think they're ending the series too. I don't see a point to add a 6th gen, that's WAY TOO MUCH.

I believe I read an interview somewhere where they directly said that 5th gen will be the last Pokemon game of its kind. I don't see an end to the Pokemon franchise any time soon, though.

Really? I see. Yeah, I don't think it's the end for the franchise, but I expect the current anime and Pokemon whatever-versions to stop eventually after this. The anime is pretty terrible now too, it doesn't even have a plot anymore. Where as back then, Ash was supposed to become a Pokemon Master, now he just travels and he's not getting any better. So I hope they make things right with the last gen and make Ash either a Pokemon Master (lol), or just make it seemed like he got beat by one.

I think Pokemon games will still be popular even if 5th gen is the last anyways. Once a new Nintendo handheld console is released some time during the future, they might just remake all of the previous versions.

Pokemon Diamond and Jade were bootlegged Pokemon games in America. Lo and behold, Diamond is actually used. Too bad Pearl was used instead of Jade.

As for the last part of your post, I doubt they'll end Pokemon. It's too much of a cash cow for them to cut off. They may end new generations, but I can see more games to come.

Nintendo seems to want to release more games fast. They're not really giving HG/SS a lot of time to shine with the next games around the corner already.

EDIT: I like both white and black (as colors) so I don't know which of these I'll be getting. I guess I'm going to choose by version exclusives this time. Or if one of the box pogeys is more awesome than the other, I'll go by that

Its due out in Fall in japan, thats roughly a year gap from the last one to come out there (HG/SS were out in september 09 in japan). A year isn't unreasonable for releasing a game they were probably working on in tandem with HG/SS, and is roughly the same amount of time between platinum and HG/SS anyway

I do think this will be the last game of its kind. The land I believe they will use is where Hiroshima is: the southern part of the main island.


Edit: And by the way, I see the 3rd game as Grey version. It's the only thing that would really fit appropriately.

right, because when an asian based company uses the colors black and white, they of course mean caucasians and negros.
its probably like others have said, they just ran out of colors and stones to name the games off of. if from G/S/C onward is any indicator, the mascots will be mostly black and mostly white, or have that be key to their power, like with Dialga/Palkia and their gemstone items.

My friend and I discussed this at length, here's what we concluded.

1. Racism
2. Black will only be in black and white will only be in white, making them both unplayable
3. The third version will be Pokemon Greyscale

movies aren't related to the games directly, at all, and have no references to each other, other than the pokemon that appear. Darkrai...well, seems more of a lord of dissonance than balance to me. @reality, I meant like how we see, feel, taste, this pokemon would make the attributes to all "real" things, as well as deciding its function

i know its a joke but, that's pretty cruel and probably true. I, without a doubt, know that white will sell more copies, just because of the connection. I'm very sensitive to racism, esp against blacks, I'm not black but, feh, I don't even know where I'm going with this.
