EV/Stat F6ing

Attaching a power item to one of the parents (I think it was the female, not sure) transfers that parent's IV to the child.

Where'd that come from? 0.o

All of the sources I've seen say it's random. Otherwise it'd be much easier to IV breed (which would be a nice thing )

It's new to HG/SS. It does make breeding less of a hassle, but your odds still suck.

For above:

HeartGold & SoulSilver add another means to transfer specific IVs over from parent to child.The manner of doing this is in having either parent hold a specific item. These items are the "Power" items introduced in Diamond & Pearl which boosted Effort Values earned when held. Attach these items to either of the parents and their specific Individual Value will be passed on to the baby. Consult the table below to see which item causes the baby to inherit which stat.

This allows you to send up to two Individual Values to your baby Pokémon, leaving the rest determined the same way as in the past with some random and some selected randomly from the parents. However, if you do it with both parents, you will not be able to control the baby's Nature through the everstone method.

Bottom line: As you all said, it sounds like normal-game teams don't need to worry about IVs (teams created for regular in-game play with CPUs). However, for competitive play people will want to acquire the above items and breed high IV Pokemon. While this change to HG/SS definitely helps, it's still tedious in that maxing two stats with IV/EV means you can't use the Everstone method of transferring nature, so lord knows you still need to keep cycling a crap ton to hatch eggs. Not to mention finding specific egg group Pokemon with max IVs to begin with.

Adventure mode pokemon are for adventure mode. If you desire to EV train them afterwards, you're going to need a lot of EV reducing berries.

Oh sweet! I like it. It's less painful to breed pokemon in this sense. It may still be random, but it eliminates some randomness, so overall it should be easier to raise a high IV pokemon.
