Your Guide to EV training!
#41
I'm fairly certain this guide has everything dealing with EVs now.
So I guess it can be considered complete? :O

This guide has died. ;_;

ive a question that would best belong here:

Say you were to want to EV train a ditto. If you were going to do that what stat would you want to focus on more for it?

According to smogon, you'd want to do it in HP and Speed.

I apologize that I didn't read the thread, but I didn't see the original post updated with this info, so I thought I'd comment.

Using the EXP Share while EV training allows the EVs earned in battle to be awarded both to the Pokemon that K/Os the opponent and the Pokemon holding the item. For example, if my Horsea has the EXP Share equipped and my Ampharos kills a Poliwhirl, both Ampharos and Horsea get 2 Speed EVs. The downside is that EV-increasing items and statuses cannot be manipulated by the EXP Share Pokemon to boost EVs earned; to get the increased amount one would have to lead with the EV training Pokemon and switch to the sweeper.

Also, Rare Candies are not as bad as you think. While they don't take EVs into account when leveling, they're safe to use once all EVs have been earned on a Pokemon.

All of this information is located in Serebii's EV Guide.

I know rare candies don't add to EVs o-O.
And I'll add that info in.

I wasn't saying that to you directly; just echoing a statement made in Serebii's guide Big Grin.

Mostly because HP is the only stat (including EVs) that doesn't change into the enemy Pokemon's, and speed allows you to possibly transform before it attacks you.

or just use pokesav like what pros do Big Grin

training the perfect legit pokemon is not worth it...EV training is one thing but breeding for the right IV and nature is another...

Not everyone has an AR.

Nor feels it's ethical to use one for a game such as Pokemon.

For DPPt, there's this great spot below the town where the daycare is, it's like a patch of grass in a northwest corner. Bibarels are pretty common among with Staravia and starly, which makes it a really good EV spot, though the battles might be though if your pokemon's not high enough.

Since i see no other thread to put this in, ive got a question id like some clarification on.

Im going to EV train a staraptor. Ive already given it the first 10 vitamins it'll need, and i want to distribute its stats like so: 252 Atk/ 196 Speed/ 60 HP. Now, with atk, i just have to fight 15 goldeen with the bracer and pokerus, then one with just the rus, and that'll cover the 252, and for the 60 HP EV's i can just give it 3 HP Ups.

My question is this: What would be the easiest way to EV train the 196 speed?

A convenient way would be to fight the fisherman with magikarp, assuming its diamond.
Or the magikarp at lake of rage.
Dont know trainers with mass speed amounts.
And I think you meant 6 HP Ups. o-o

Fukkin Zubat and Rattata everywhere, man.

By the way, this is your friend. Depending on what version you're training in, there's different areas to hit for training EVs.

Pretty sure Pokerus doesn't double EVs from vitamins, so you'd need 6 HP Ups. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
