Remember that one anime you saw when you were a kid?
#1
What was it? If you can remember what the characters are like, or the name of the anime, post it here and share it with us. I remembered watching these when I was in 1st grade and pre-school:

Mukamuka Paradise (1993-09-04 to 1994-08-27)

Is it sad that I remembered the theme song for this? It's been well over 14 years . . . Wow. My childhood flies. ^

Ai to Yuuki no Pig Girl Tonde Buurin (1994-09-03 to 1995-08-26)

So much nostalgia in this thread. I don't know Pig girl, I vaguely remember Time Bokan (don't think I saw much of it, I'll dig through my attic tomorrow to see if I bring up memories), and I was never interested in Slam Dunk. Aside from that, everything else in this thread brings back some memories.

Macross butchered.

Fuck yes. I still have the VHS tapes from when I was a kid and these were subtitled horribly. This was probably the first anime I got originally in Japanese. Back in those days, getting VHS with crappy subtitles was so awesome. They were so cheap, I ended up with an attic packed with tapes. I wish I still had most of them. Meanwhile my uncle used to buy hentai from there. lol@him accidentally popping La Blue Girl in for me when I wanted to watch Dragonball or Dragonball Z.

pineapple yes, probably the first romance I've seen. I think I still have the tapes for these two. I don't know if I finished it as a kid though, but I made sure to rewatch the full thing once I got hooked on the internet. Back then, getting anime from IRC channels were pretty much the only way to go. I moved from VHS tapes to internet.

Not brought up yet?

There's this cartoon (not really sure if anime) about a dinosaur who can only say something sounds like "num caan". I remember clearly it existed in my childhood but I can't bring any visual memory to mind.

XTOTHEL beats me, lol. I think some of the oldest anime I watched were the two mentioned in my post, along with an anime with uhh Zodiac Animals, and they were living and had magical powers. They travelled through stories like "Cinderella", for example, and defeated an evil villain to restore the story back to the way it should be, or something. I forgot the name of this anime, and I can't find it anywhere online. -siiiigh-

@Kalovale: Uh, dino? Mukamuka Paradise? That's the only thing I can remember, I forgot if it talked or what, but I think it made noises a lot when it runs. It's been a while since I watched it. Mukamuka Paradise link is in my first post.

EDIT ; Googled like for an hour, and there were a ton of Yahoo! questions coming up by different users asking for the same thing. An anime that had 12 Zodiac animals, and this was around the 90's. No one has an answer, I will not rest til I find the name of this anime.

Quote:title of the anime that featured chinese zodiac animals

its probably shown during the 90s. the animals travel back through the fairy tales and fix what went wrong to have a happy ending. I couldn’t seem to remember the title.

i want to watch it again and relive my childhood anime memories. thanks.
It’s not fruits basket. It’s an older anime with a rat as their leader in going back to straighten fairy tales and have a happy ending.
sorry, I don’t know
I just wanted to say that that is definitely not Fruits Basket, though the title of the anime that featured chinese zodiac animals intervening with fairytales
the only thing i know thats very similar is fruits basket

By another user asking for the same damn thing. ;~;

The Eto Rangers ride in Space-Time Transmitting Machine Kirinda to repair the Novel Worlds of Mugen. The Eto Rangers are anthropomorphic animals, each representing one of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals (and The Twelve Branches in Buddhism). In Japan they are known as the Eto animals. The Novel Worlds are stories created by the human imagination, such as old folk tales as well as newer books. These living worlds play out repeatedly, and are necessary for the good of humanity. Princess Aura rules Mugen, which is an island continent hanging over an ocean from the skybound Novel Pole. The Great God Goal gives her power, but she may never leave the small palace island area. Their nemesis is the forgotten Spirit of Cats, Nyanma, who was excluded from the choice of 12 protectors by being disqualified from the race (in actual legend there are many versions of this story). She seeks her revenge by distorting Novel Worlds with Jyarei Monsters.

When a Jyarei Monster goes to a Novel World they alter the story, turning it into a different version, sometimes a parody of itself. Bakumaru, the Spirit of Mice, must use the Genmakyou mirror to reveal ("Jyarei Shouran!") the evil spirit once enough clues lead to its identity. Often the Eto Rangers must play out some of the story to find out who or what it is, sometimes even taking on the role of one of the characters in the tale. After defeating the creature, Kirinda is called when Bakumaru holds up his hand with one of Aura's 12 gems on it and calls out "Daikourin Kirinda!" Kirinda descends from a dimensional slit and purifies the evil spirit with a beam weapon, calling out "Jyouka!" (Purification).

Most of the episodes involve up to 5 Eto Rangers, chosen by the computer's roulette member selection, going into Novel Worlds to repair them, but there is another story going on as well. The Jyarei Monsters are commanded by Jyarei O Nyanma, the Queen of Evil-Spirited Monsters, sitting in her throne in the giant shell fortress in the seafloor ravine. Throughout the series she is watching the progress of the Eto Rangers that foil her plans. She has a grudge toward Aura for a perceived slight years ago. She sends out 4 cat warriors created from herself as well. It is not until later in the series that the overall story, and the past, begins to be revealed in more detail.
;~; So downloading this subbed and burning it to DVDs!

Edit; In case you ask, yes, Spidey. This was the anime I asked if you knew about, a while back. So happy I found it though, I'll start looking for subbed episodes and watch during the Summer.

I remember the one with Cinderella pretty well. I think I watched this over in Vietnam when they had it in VHS tapes, I don't recall if it was in Japanese or Vietnamese though, but I somehow understood it, well, sorta. Rewatching episode 1, the mouse reminds me a lot about Naruto (character). Lol.

Then there was a story about Journey to the West too, iirc. It's been a while, but I remembered this being in there!!

PS ; Apparently,
Juuni Senshi Bakuretsu Eto Ranger is 39 episodes . . . <_<; I'll probably find a way to DL all 39 to DVDs during the Summer. I did not know it was 39 episodes, I'm wondering how I watched all of this when I was younger. o__o Because I remember seeing the final episode, heh. Man, so nostalgic.
