Your Guide to EV training!
#21
Never mind, it is recycled. Sorry.

Here's some good EV training crap, with DPP training spots and such.

Just some stuff about Pokerus, it's extremely rare, and it's accepted there's a 1 out of 32768 chance of running into a wild Pokemon with it. Also, any Pokemon that's been "cured" of Pokerus will continue to receive the benefits of it.

Added that extra bit on EV-Reducing Berries, DPPt Spots.
Feel free to recommend more or recommend an addition to the guide.

Updated with an almost complete set on where to EV train for DPPt.
Thanks CoB.

I caught 3 Pokemon in Soul Silver with Pokerus, but no shinies. How do you think that makes me feel?

^ chances are you only encountered one, and it just spread to them the moment you caught them. Also, there are much better places for speed and special attack EV's. Surfing at the resort area has a... I think a 95% chance of encountering a golduck? That's 2 sp.att EV's every fight. That's in platinum. Diamond and Pearl I think it's 100% chance. For speed, you can surf in victory road and you'll only encounter golbats which give 2 speed. Also in Diamond/Pearl/Plat. I don't have anything on HG/SS as I don't have them yet.

Nownow, the same results are available via pokesav, just faster. I don't think competetive battling is exactly part of the way the game was meant to be played, it's not like theres rankings for people who have the most EV trained pokemon, and 31 iv's to everything is just ridiculous. Too much abuse of power on the hacker's part.

I dunno. I should have had a full party full of Pokerus-infected Pokemon if it had spread before I deposited them into the PC. None of the 3 Pokemon that I caught stayed in my party, that they all went into Box 1 the moment I caught it.

Wild with Pokerus. You battle it. Lead gets Pokerus. 2nd Slot gets Pokerus. 3 Pogeys with Pokerus.

I had my Cyndaquil defeat every Pokemon I can, save for those that I catch with my starter or some misc Pokemon. Couldn't have caught it from battling.

That is an incredibly ineffecient way of getting it. The chance of a wild pokemon with pokerus is like, 1/23k.

Chance of three wilds is even lower. Upwards of one in ten trillion?

The best EV training spots are almost always surfing and fishing, thanks to Pokemon's horribly limited variety in each water route. Got this list from a GameFAQs topic.

HP:
- Surfing in Slowpoke Well; Slowpoke (1).
- Surfing in Ruins of Alph; Wooper (1) and Quagsire (2).
- Surfing in Cliff’s Edge Gate; Wooper (1) and Quagsire (2).

Attack:
- Using the Super Rod in the first floor of Mt. Silver; Gyarados (2) and Seaking (2). You can encounter Goldeen (1) and Seaking (2) surfing on the same level.
- Surfing on Route 42; Goldeen (1) and Seaking (2).
- Surfing everywhere in Mt. Mortar; Goldeen (1) and Seaking (2).
- Surfing in Cerulean City; Goldeen (1) and Seaking (2).
- Surfing on Routes 24 and 25; Goldeen (1) and Seaking (2).

Defense:
- Rock smash boulders in Ruins of Alph; Geodude (1).
- Rock smash boulders in Rock Tunnel; Geodude (1).
- Rock smash boulders in Cerulean Cave; Geodude (1) and Graveler (2).

Special Attack:
- Surfing on Route 35; Psyducks (1) and Golducks (2).

Special Defense:
- Surfing in Cherrygrove City; Tentacool (1) and Tentacruel (2).
- Surfing in Olivine City; Tentacool (1) and Tentacruel (2).
- Surfing in Pallet Town; Tentacool (1) and Tentacruel (2).
- Surfing in Cinnabar Island; Tentacool (1) and Tentacruel (2).
- Surfing on Routes 20 and 21; Tentacool (1) and Tentacruel (2).

Speed:
- Surfing on Route 30; Poliwag (1) and Poliwhirl (2). Using any type of fishing rod, you can encounter Magikarp (1) and Poliwag (1).
- Surfing in Violet City; Poliwag (1) and Poliwhirl (2). Using any type of fishing rod, you can encounter Magikarp (1) and Poliwag (1).
- Surfing in Ilex Forest; Poliwag (1) and Poliwhirl (2).
- Surfing in Ecruteak City; Poliwag (1) and Poliwhirl (2).
- Using any type of fishing rod in Cliff’s Edge Gate; Magikarp (1) and Poliwag (1).
- Using the Old Rod in Lake of Rage; Magikarp (1)
- Surfing on Route 43; Magikarp (1).
- Surfing on Route 44; Poliwag (1) and Poliwhirl (2).
- Surfing on Route 45; Magikarp (1). You can also use the Super Rod to encounter Poliwag (1) and Magikarp (1).
- Surfing in Blackthorn City; Magikarp (1).
- Surfing on Route 28; Poliwag (1) and Poliwhirl (2).
- Surfing in Mt. Silver (outside the cave); Poliwag (1) and Poliwhirl (2).
- Surfing on Route 22; Poliwag (1) and Poliwhirl (2).

Can't believe we forgot about the 6 Magikarp trainer. 6 speed EVs right there(without any boosts). It's one of the fisherman west of Eterna in Diamond and Pearl (not sure if he's in Platinum, though every game has had one of those guys so far). No idea where he is in HG/SS, but it's one of those trainers early on which make you go "OMG he has 6 Pokém... no wait just Magikarps.". Maybe he's near the bridge area north of the Union Cave.

You get one pokemno with pokerus and you're set for life. Just infect it to some "pokerus mule" pokemon, set the mule in your PC after it's infected (pokerus won't leave when the pokemon's in PC), and get him out to infect any of your new pokemon when you want.

That's why it's much easier to simply go ask someone on serebii/smogon/etc to infect your pokemon.
