Choosing Starters
#41
SS is the first time I have EVER gone with one of the non-water starters on my first playthrough.

Not a fan of the fire types except Typhlosion.

Also, to the person who said Infernape was a rip-off of Charizard:

How the pineapple is it a rip-off of that overrated retarded flying lizard?

The best looking one. Hands down.

If I'm split on which to choose, I base my choice on stats and if I'm playing through on the remake (i.e. Platinum to D/P); then the other one I liked.

You're kidding, right? Infernape is basically a hairy monkey version of Charizard.

At least Gen 2 and Gen 3 made their fire starter a little different from Charizard.

Thank god for massive amounts of self-control or I'd pomegranate myself laughing.

Charizard is nothing more than some generic attempt of a Dragon.

Infernape is based on Journey to the West.

Not only that, he's superior to Charizard in every way in game except that Charizard has Earthquake immunity. Sadly that means nothing because Charizard gets owned by anything with a Rock type attack (Stone Edge/Rock Slide) and loses 50% hp to Stealth Rock. Fail.

Had to compared it to Blaziken which at least has the same typing, I'd give you some ground on that.

Somebody really hates Charizard for no clear reason.

Oh, but you're right, plus forgive me for being so stupid. Obviously these two have nothing in common at all.

Obviously.

How so? Fighting VS Flying...?

So they have fire tails. Quillava has fire on its back too. Any similarities beyond that?

I choose starters more based on what the first few gyms are based on. Which means i choose charmander for 1st gen, since rock + water gyms back to back always make a strong as f'uck charizard.

Why are you people talking about types? I am talking about the design.

When you say rip off, I think virtual carbon copies. Same strategies, same battling styles, same everything. Not both having the tip of their tail on fire.

I only forgive ignorance. Fire on the tail is not enough to claim its a ripoff.

Over 10 years later and people still fiend on Charizard.

It's not just the tail, it's the overall design. I call it a rip off because it's close to Charizard's design, like Torterra's design is like Venusaur's.

uhhmmmm

1st gen. Bulbasaur (cool) - Ivysaur (Awesome!) - Venasaur (Fat)
2nd gen. Cyndaquil
3rd gen. Treeko (Awesome) - Grovyle (Even better!) - Sceptyle (Fat)
4th gen. Didn't play much of it but when I played I chose torterra.

Overall, all grass but chikorita since that's ugly.

Whoever doesn't fucking think that grass starter are the coolest/cutest/best starters in the pokemon series might as well die. I have never heard so many people bitch about grass types before, then cling to their precious overpowered fire types like liberals and their healthcare

1st Gen - Charmander, but I restarted since the first gym was already too hard for me (I was 5 or 6 years old at the time). I restarted with Squirtle.
2nd Gen (before remake) - Totidile. Remake - Cyndiquil. I prefer Cyndiquil in HG/SS since it provides a faster speed run without transfering Pokemon.
3rd Gen Depended on what game I'd get. Ruby would be Mudkip, Sapphire would be Treecko. Emerald I chose Torchic, just cause.
4th Gen Well I originally started with piplup, but it sucked in D/P so I restarted with chimchar. Platinum piplup was more bearable for some reason.
5th Gen Depends.

Gen 2 onward, I picked the fire starter. Gen 1 I went with Squirtle.
