Real life stinks

Don't you wish you could escape the monotony of everyday life? Every time I look at my old backpack from high school, I think about packing it up with supplies and going on an adventure. I wish I could become a pokémon trainer and just go out and explore. What if real life were more like pokémon? Imagine if your area was part of a pokémon region, what pokémon would you find there?


Well I live in Michigan, so I imagine it would have standard Kanto pokémon with an abundance of poison-types like Koffing and Grimer around Detroit, lol. For lakes, I would expect the typical Magikarp/Goldeen mix though probably some Shellder, Poliwag, Whiscash... also, Wingull EVERY F'UCKING WHERE, some Starly and Murkrow around too. There would also be lots of Shroomish, Seedot, and some Cherubi too. Further to the north it gets a lot colder, so I would expect some ice-types like Sneasel, Snover, etc. I'd expect Pineco all over, I think there would be some Manectric too. There's some old mines around too, so perhaps a few steel and rock types thrown in here as well.

For gyms, I would imagine there would be a steel, poison, ice, and a water one.

The weather can get pretty CRAZY sometimes, it can go from very windy to nice in an instant and it's stormy sometimes and because of that I think it would be perfect to have some Castform around and The Weather Trio would be part of the local legends due to the amount of rampant ever-changing weather and unique shape of the area.


So, which pokémon would live in your real life region? What would your town's gyms be and what legendary pokémon would live close by?

I was thinking about maybe taking this idea a step further and to really try to make a pokémon region based on my area, even going so far as to actually design towns, routes, and gyms. Might be a fun little thing for me to work on one of these days...

Also Ledyba, Spinarak, Stantlers, and Miltanks.

While Pokemon is dandy for adventuring, I'd shoot for some Final Fantasy type pomegranate myself. Use a sword that's bigger than I am like it ain't no thang.

Actually, the guy who came up with Pokemon based it on when he was a boy and he would wonder around where he lived and found all sorts of bugs and animals.

I used to daydream about stuff like this when I was younger. It was one continuous adventure that I thought of for years. At first, it started out with me finding a Pokeball somewhere that contained a Mew. Skipping over some time, I eventually got in contact with some guy (the Professor Oak of this adventure) who gave me a Pokedex and assigned me a trainer number. Being the first in my generation to actually see a Pokemon, I was assigned #001. Basically, Pokemon did exist but couldn't be seen by many people. At the start, all I did was just have fun with my cute pet Mew. It was able to communicate telepathically with me, and could teleport me anywhere. So, I'd be able to relax until the last minute, and then teleport to school right before being late. I would just appear in an empty stall, or staircase that nobody uses.

That was a boring start, yeah, but eventually it came to the point where I would get assigned missions from the head Pokemon dude who gave me the Pokedex. They started off pretty small: taking out a group of angry Dugtrio who were causing tremors, take care of a sick Ninetales, etc.

Then, eventually, other trainers started coming into the mix. We'd all able to communicate to each other across the world with out Pokedex; which would instantly translate everything into the regional language, so a trainer from Germany could contact a trainer from China and they'd understand each other. I ended up battling people, kicking ass, etc.

And because I was the first trainer, I had the most experience with missions, so was usually trusted the most to do the really heavy missions. This usually meant I got the legendary one of a kind Pokemon for myself, since the high leveled missions would usually involve them. I remember one idea I came up with involved me going to a volcano in Hawaii, where a Moltres was messing around.


Oh, but that's not the question this thread was asking...
Living in NYC, I'd say there would probably be a lot of power-plant Pokemon, like Magnemite. Alley cat Pokemon as well, those would fit in pretty nicely with the city. Pichu and Pikachu could run around hiding behind trash cans and such. Wingull and Pelliper would fit in well near the harbors and bridges. Oh, speaking of birds, we need dirty rat birds as well, so Pidgey and Spearow would be everywhere.

Down in the train stations, Rattata and Raticate would roam around, and perhaps the occasional Grimer and Koffing.

When I was little, I always imagined that there were Pokemon in the woods behind my house.

A few years back, they tore down the woods to build a track for the private school at the end of the street.

i have done this and still do, but not with pokemon.. more like a mix of other animes and for years... Its just better than constantly thinking about the problems of the world/my problems, too much in my head =).

A majority of the other trainers were anime characters. Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura was a re-occuring character, along with kid Gohan, Tsukasa from .hack//sign, and tons of other characters. None of them kept their "powers" from whatever series they were from though, just their appearance and personalities.
