Me too. Well, anyway I'm sitting around on the Smogon server if anyone wants to challenge me. Username Otaia. I made a single change to my team since I played Khoi, and I wanna see how much of a difference that makes.

I'm around if anyone wants to battle~ ign is Delicae~

Good game Dusk. You freaked me out with your Sceptile. If it was Specs, my team would be dead. I also shat myself when your Clefable came out.

I need some priority moves against Spidey >_>

I'm up for a battle or two. Still need to fix up my team.

Spidey, I also discovered that my Clefable had Cute Charm.

Wow, really? At first mine did too, but I know I didn't put Cute Charm as its ability. I dunno, sometimes Shoddy is strange with saving my team. Once my Lanturn had Agility in its moveset, and the box for it wasn't even checked.

Lol I feel like my challenges aren't going through...

Dragons are some of the most under-estimated types in the metagame. When people see Flying/Dragon, they say "LOL gg Ice". Too bad that statement's useless if the Dragon-type hits first or can tank hits. There's so many Altaria movesets, but I found one that I particularly like. I might change it, still debating. It's extremely hard to set-up though.

Someone needs to organize a tournament for the actual game. Biggrin

Training with EVs takes a lot of time.

EV training honestly takes no time at all. It takes more time to plan out a team. HG/SS runs a lot faster than D/P and it took me less than 15 minutes to EV train my Weavile. The part that takes a long time is breeding. If you're shooting for near-perfect IVs to match what you use on Shoddy, that can take from several hours with RNG abuse to dozens of hours.

Back during R/S/E gen, took me like hours and hours to EV train a single Pokemon. @_@ And yes, IVs-breeding takes forever. I never bothered with that as much.

the one thing i remember about hacking pokemon back in plat, along with level and pokemon species, i could alter nature and "attitude," whatever the thing that determines IV's is called. Ive only ever done level and species, because i never bothered to deal with that shit since i had two very useful codes that enabled me to bypass the 252 limit, and add 999 of the stat items to my bag.

i will never understand EV/IV trainers. perfection is a lie, and no matter what, no matter how good you think you are, theres always someone better. the whole "must have the perfect pokemon" will never work out since theres even a way to get around a wondertomb/wondereye. >_>

You're right about one thing. A team cannot be 100% perfect. A team is based on the following:

1) Your personal preferences (Do you like offense, defense, status-infliction, annoyance, etc)
2) Knowledge of the metagame
3) Experience from playing the metagame
4) Memorization of which Pokemon has certain movesets. (ie: If someone sends out a Sala, you should be able to predict some of the moves, even if there are different sets, sometimes the pattern is really obvious)dd
5) Choices.

5 being extremely crucial. Decision-making is probably more important than stats. If you suck ass at making a good choice during battle, even one single turn can cost you the entire match. I've played in UU matches in which people LET me DD'ed more than 2 times on Altaria. Huge mistake. However, making a good team just means it's a team you enjoy that can counter 'mostly' everything. That's how I define a good team.

I noticed in 3rd gen, I was fcking obsessed with speed and offense. On first turn, my set-up was predictable, but if the opponent didn't have Taunt or Skarmory, it was good game. 1st turn sending out Umbreon (Mean Look, Curse, Rest, Baton Pass) -> Mean Look -> Curse x6 (if do-able) -> BP -> Aerodactyl (maxed speed EVs, Jolly).

Aerodactyl had EQ, Double-Edge (Rock Head ability or something), Aerial Ace (never misses), and Rock Slide. It wiped out everything in the metagame with it's incredible base attack and speed. Along with 2 STAB'ed attacks. In conjunction with White Herb, it NEGATES the -6 turns of speed deduction, so Aero still had 394 speed remaining. Rest on Umbreon heals status effects (Tox, especially). Standard OU for Umbre back then was Wish. The only Pokemon to ever have survive a direct STAB'ed Rock Slide from this was a Suicune. Suicune is beast. Still is, apparently. It's OU in 4th gen.

NB was the shizzle.

It's not about perfection. I treat Pokemon like any other RPG. I want my Pokemon to have good stats, so I'm willing to waste some time fulfilling that goal. It's the same reason people try to collect 100% of the treasures in [insert generic RPG here]. Sure it's nearly pointless, and you can beat the game without collecting more than 10% of the treasures, but it's fun because it lets you satisfy your basic human instinct of collecting and hoarding things. Only in Pokemon, your efforts do pay off a little because you can use your "better" Pokemon to battle other people.

When I use this analogy to collecting items in other RPGs, I find it pretty hard to understand why you'd hack 999 stats and items, and all the event Pokemon. Getting there is the fun part for me. Wailing on Youngster Joey with a Wondertomb, not so much.
