Oh my god, I was 30 minutes late to Gamestop because of a group project, but there were still 2 people left inside closing up. Knocked on the glass door, took out my Ho-Oh figure, told them my name, and got my Lugia. IT IS NOW COMPLETE FOR ME TO PLAY WHEN FINALS WEEK ENDS.

Don't think so. You just needed the national dex to transfer pokemon from the GBA games into the DS games. If someone tried to trade you a Cyndaquil in Diamond, it wouldn't stop you if you didn't have the national dex. Their pokedex number will just be ??? in their stats screen.

Have you looked at Wobbuffet? That one's always really obvious. If there's no difference there, it must just not be a feature in this game.

the red frill on sneasel/weavile is larger for males, smaller for females.
the tail on a pikachu is either dented or flat-tipped.
the horn on ryhorn/rydon/ryperior is larger/smaller depending on gender.

Nintendo World has a very cute Ho-Oh plushie. I don't own it, I only have a Mew and Metagross one.

that was changed with platinum. D/P had the national dex block, platinum was where it was removed.
only know this because i cheated the system and got a darkrai before i should have been able to, and it didnt appear in the regional.
