The future of quests?
#1
It seems like the "Get x ultra rare items!" quests are becoming more and more frequent, and I think that Nexon America's involvement is making them more and more common.

For instance, the Hyper Glyph quest.
Collecting the amount you needed was beyond ridiculously, to the point where it's used as a comparison to other quests. Then we have the ring fragment quest, 20 ETCs which are nearly impossible to get. The connection is that both of these were developed for gMS by Nexon America. (Correct me if I am wrong about the Amoria part.)

Now, lets look at the most recent patch: Crimsonwood Keep.
Nearly every quest falls into the Hyper Glyph category.

Is this what every every new quest is going to be reduced to? Or will it only be like this for areas that Nexon America develops?

Now then, what are everyone else's opinions?

At least there's a reason for it. For the NLC set it got you an awesome chair! Now for this set it gets you the best pendant there is aside from the HT pendant AND access to forging godly weapons.

Be that as it may, it leaves this little doubt gnawing at the back of my brain saying: Everything's gonna be like that! Sucks for you! Big Grin

What other types of quests would you implement?

Besides "go talk to x, then y, then come back and talk to y" and jump quests.

Just trying to find Phantom Trees is difficult enough, now the seeds are semi-rare? >:O

Those are a staple of the MMO industry, however I am specifically talking about ones which require you to hunt down 100 of an item that is insanely rare.

Maybe they want us to buy 2x drop cards.

I gave up on CK because of all the elemental crap there. Not only would i have had to hunt down stormies for 10 items, but I'm also reduced to using cold beam because it's lightning strong.

I liked the ariant quests, they were fun and not all of the "get super rare items" variety

They obviously want to you buy 2x drop, and don't forget jungle lillies =]

It took me over 4 hours to gather up 50 phantom seeds.

12 hours total and counting on Crimsonwood quests~

I know... seriously Nexon should implement a map where there is a HIGH spawn of electrophants or increase the drop rate of them. Hyper GLyphs are WAY too rare...
Also the drop rate of lucky charms and phantom tree seeds should also increase...

I didn't mind the hyper glyphs or the I.AM.ROBOT maps... They weren't THAT rare. Sure, it took a couple of hours but that's it. A couple of hours.

The ones that tick me off are the newspaper hat, glass shoe, blackbull's deed, etc. I've leveled characters for 10+ levels at fire boars without finding a single shoe. That's just excessive and annoying.

I believe each quest will be different. I in no way believe all the new and up-coming quests will be extremely hard. Some will hard for us, some won't. We definitely shouldn't be thinking Nexon's turned on us and will slap us in the face for every new quest. We will get normal/easy and yes, hard quests.

You're just a lucky duck. Hurt

Collecting XX rare drops is better than collecting X ultra-rare drop(s), in my opinion.

I'd rather do quests that want me to get 100 of one item that drops regularly, than 5 of an item that drops rarely, even if I would have had to kill the same number of monsters. I like to see the progress, rather than hoping probably will work in my favor, which it more often doesn't.

Yeah. Hunting 999 curse eyes, for example, seemed less tedious than 3 drake's bloods when I did it, even though the bloods probably took less actual time.
