Um, In D/P there is, and I'm pretty sure there's been one in every Pokemon game so far. It's just the dude that's always like "I just caught a ton of awesome Pokemon!" and then proceeds to send out level 10 Magikarps. If you don't need Speed EVs there's also a Bidoof girl in D/P.

In HG/SS it'll probably be more difficult because you can't rematch trainers whenever you want (I think it's by time of day), but I doubt that'll make it overly annoying.

Macho Brace is useless. Power items are 2 1/2 times as effective.

The reason people would use macho brace is one item you can use to train any of the stats. Whereas the power items have to be individually gotten. So people will use the macho brace at first. It's not useless. It just becomes useless. Just like the 20 hp potions. They're used at first while you don't have anything better.

Fair enough, but I didn't bother EV training anything until after I beat the E4 anyway, and it only took a few hours to grab all the Power items.

Because it's been 4 pages of EV/IV/RTV training chat which imo is one of the saddest practices in gaming to date.

Some people enjoy competition to show off skills or brains. In this game, it's just memorization and knowing math. In other games, it's reaction. I don't see anything bad about it. If you don't like competitive battling, don't be a competitive player. No one is forcing you to play competitively. I am certainly not expecting anyone to play competitive Pokemon, I was more surprised when I noticed people on this forum brought it up in the first place. SP, doing something that involves thinking? Nowai.
