What the hell are you talking about? A 30 minute walk and a 10 minute train ride to Gamestop and fiddling with my DS for 15 seconds was not a very painful experience. I always think it's nice to know that you own a legit copy. It's not like I'm going to be doing all that much with the Pokemon, anyway. Technically you could hack 493 Pokemon with no effort, but then why are you even playing the game?

The waiting 4 months part is referring to the fact that you need to wait on the official release of the event. I agree with most of what you said though. I've had some pretty bad experiences with Pokemon events (I believe I've posted one here on SP regarding the couple using chanspeak in real life while obviously trying to hard to impress others with their anime apparel), but most of them can be avoided by simply going in front of the store for 15 seconds and leaving. You don't have to even enter most of the time, because the DS can get the signal from pretty far away.

Yes, waiting 4 months to stand in a store with a bunch of sweaty greasy mouth breathers laughing over audibly about how they're sending everyone "Geodicks" just for a chance to get something one could easily get through a password sure sounds like great fun.

Do whatever you want. The whole "legitimatly hacked Pokemon vs hacked Pokemon" debate never ends in the Pokemon community. You can hack a Pokemon with stats that are entirely possible to get in game, making sure it has no special movesets or stat alterations, as well as making sure its PID matches correctly. Truthfully, I don't care, I'm not some white knight with moral values that I believe everyone should follow. Whatever works for you, works.

I'm lazy, but if I miss an event I'll usually track down someone online who didn't and have them trade me it. I have a very nice collection of rare and well trained Pokemon that I don't use and don't mind giving away for an event Pokemon. It's not because I think of it as having "dirty hands" for owning a hacked Pokemon (for all I know, the ones I receive are hacked anyway, and there's no way to tell unless the person who made it was dumb), I just have more interest in an event Pokemon if I got it myself, one way or another.

The only problem I had with event Pokemon in the past is that they were almost impossible to obtain unless you lived in America or Japan. Now that there's more Wi-fi events, I'm actually starting to like these events. Now the problem, at least for me, is the fact that not all event Pokemon have been put on Wifi, or aren't on there often enough. x.x

I can see where you come from feeling proud that you went to the event to get the legit Pokemon, but I see no difference in hacking some Light ball to start the in-game quests to get a Celebi or some pomegranate. I just don't think some pixels is worth my time, energy, and gas to go get it.

Most of the time they don't even give out the items to start the event, and just give out the pokemon itself instead.

I know in the case of Platinum, there were items to get Darkrai and Shaymin, and that's what I hacked to nab. I think there was one for Deoxys too, I can't remember.

I'm going to pirate it when it comes out. I'm probably going to flip a coin for this because I can just pokesav what I need and do requests for shits and giggles.

When I first started Pokemon, it was Yellow as a gift along with a Game Boy Color for my birthday. I loved it so much, I beat it in 1 week. ( I was like 4 and a half at the time). I somehow never got Gold/Silver when they came out, so I never got into Gen 2. Then came Gen 3 with Sapphire and Gen 4 with Diamond. Later on I received a Silver version from my cousin. I still never really got into it. But now I release that G/S had one of the most intricate and amazing plots of all the games. Now I'm getting HG because I never really got the originals. I can't wait. These games are going to be epic.

I wish GameStop would let me get my copy today, since I'm going somewhere all day for about 3 days starting tomorrow morning. 1 hour before GameStop opens. x_x
