GM Hacked - FAQ finally answered!
#1
To end all speculation, I've spoken with the devil himself.
His msn apparently isn't a big secret at all: hackerecko@hotmail.com. Feel free to contact him if you want to ask him yourself.

Following text format is as follows:
Question
His answer

Did you hack RavenSCA?
depends what you consider hacking

How did you get his information?
the dummy posted it on the marquee

If the info was in the marquee, how were you able to be the first to login?
i wasn't. in fact, i wasn't even online for a good hour n 30min after 2x started so i guess it was up there for awhile

Why didn't anyone else "hack" it?
beats me

How long did it take you to "hack" it?
1-2min

To your knowledge, did anyone else know about the information?
funny part is, i signed on and my friends/guildies whispered me right away telling me about it. they skipped their 2x trying to guess the pin for a good hour or so

So it had a pin?
yea

How about a PIC
yea

How did you get around it? Cracked it?
i reset it

So you hacked the email?
nah

So how did you reset it
same way i reset everyone's pin. what is this 21 questions?

I'm not asking how you do it, but in brief, what happens to the pin?
basically, with a login id, i can reset any pw and have the resetted pw sent to my own email. once i have both id and pw, i can send a reset url to my own email. viola

What were you able to do on the account?
**** off you ask too many questions

Lol, can I post this on southperry?
what's that

A forum. Can I?
go ahead

I did not edit his answers in any way. They are directly copy pasted from our MSN log. The only edits I have made are removing his display name and my own and censoring the part of the conversation where he says the f word. This should help.

Heard something similar from another source.

Quote:His story:
He logged on 30minutes after the x2 was started or done, whatever.
His friend whispered him, told him to log on the account on the site, it was a GM. Ecko tried pins 1111, 0000, 9999, didn't work. So he decided he's use his OWN exploit that he used BEFORE PIC, and reset the pin to his own email. He got in and assigned his own pic, and started messing around on it.
So he had the ID and PW, he didn't post in the marquee, that's how he got it.

How come it required both a PIN and a PIC?

When you reset your PIC you need to enter your PIN first.

One would have expected a GM account to have at least a couple extra safeguards around it, like not being able to be reset from another location. Unless all GM positions are actually work-from-home deals...

This explains a LOT.

Ecko doesn't actually hack accounts, the passwords assemble themselves out of fear for his expertise.

Ecko can hack into your computer and get all your information. Even when Nexon is down for maintenance.

There are a ton of safeguards that I would expect GM accounts to have. It seems Nexon didn't bother because they figured that it's a game for kids, so there won't be any problems like this popping up.

Interesting about how Jimmy hacked the GM. I wonder if what they said he did about dropping and copying items was true.

70% of a human's weight is water. 70% of Echo's weight is his e-penis.

Alright I think that's it until I find better ones.

The funniest part is that you, Yoshi and JohnE are acting like Swerve is the idiot here.

Sorry. I was thinking back to the time when everyone in Scania was afraid of this guy. I just think it's funny how he hasn't really changed. Sorry about that guys. I'm kind of laughing on the inside. I won't spam anymore.
