Poor GM will hear alot from Nexon, i cant believe he just gave out the info in the yellow text like the image says:

because is too much dumb, even for a GM...

is funny that after all that bs publicity of Nexon to change the pw, social engineering and that crap they blame us, turned against them, because in the end dont matter how you look at it, Nexon have to admit that their security sucks, or they have to blame the GM member or his staff, in both ways they are losing the rest of credibility that got left.

I saw the announcement made by -Hime- in the Nexon forum, pretty hilarious, man.

I like how weak the GM's password is. Those automated passwords you get from recovery are stronger than that password. Extra brownie points for a password that relates to the username, I bet his PIC was stupid as well (kdog03).

Stereo Wrote:After a GM's account got hijacked in beta (the password was something dumb like 123 and a user guessed it) they supposedly beefed up security by not allowing GMs to log on from outside addresses. But I guess that's false.

Yeah, what Stereo said. I thought they learned their lesson in beta with that stupid gm account that was something like asdf with the password 1234.

Also, it would only make sense. I have my router set to only work with the MAC addresses on my network, I don't see why they wouldn't set up their GM accounts to only work with Nexon IPs. It's a very dumb move on their part to allow anyone access to the GM account so long as they have the password and username. Do the GMs work at home? That's very doubtful, and I doubt their boss would let them even access their accounts at home anyway.

This shows me their GMs are just 16-18 year olds, passwords like that are just a huge target that says "HIT ME!" for hackers.

Well bypassing PCIS is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EASY but I aggree with you, I am surprised he didn't use the getrandom method for like 12 characters password and username INCLUDING numbers. Then he can't be haxed.

Yeah, I believe there are generators out there that can generate a password with symbols, letters, and numbers. Using those for passwords would be best, hm.

I wrote this to -Hime- after she made a "special" visit to SW to address the alleged GM "flub"...

Where did this happen? I just search through the thread and couldn't find -Hime- or your post. I noticed Adura standing up for her but then again, she is a girl.

I don't get how you mess up like that. I mean, is the list of every single Maplestory GM's account name and password right next to the event notices?

She did actually post. Let me look in the thread for that.

Edit: Ninja'd.

According to their excuse, he was using a copypasta script to enter in commands, and used the same script to enter in his credentials as well. Since GMs simply log in, post a message, and log right off, I would imagine that he didn't even take the time to read his message over again. Of course, this is assuming their story is true.

As for your second idea, it'd be very funny if a GM were to post the information for every other GM up in the notice. Perhaps one that actually has high enough power to ban and use other commands (since this seemed to be a low tier GM account).

No. They said there's a keycode to input notices like that, it's likely ctrl + some letters. He probably had his username and password copied and just accidentally pasted it at the end.

anti-climatic. I expected her to actually explain something there.

Makes you wonder why he had his username and password copied.

It's a method of avoiding keyloggers.

Also he's probably seven.

-Hime- implied that he wasn't supposed to be using the script to do this, so he was most likely just lazy. It the log on→post message→log off method faster

Every time you think Nexon are almost there they always take a huge nose dive. 2010 has been a bad year for them so far, and an even worse years for use players..
It is funny though, you have to hand it to them. I don’t know anyone else how is this consistently bad. I thought Asiasoft were up there but after this year I think Nexon America takes 1st prize.

Mazz Wrote:They'll never live this down.
Yeah they will, they will just throw a 2x exp event or something and every one will be all la la la. Just like always.

You should know better. Anything beyond that blanket statement would be speculation Rolleyes

This

Hi everyone missed me? Kiss

Regarding this gm hack, the gm was dumb for not seeing his info in the scrolling notice bar. This scenario is the same as fiel "please hack my account"

Now on to this pic speculation

For all that thinks the pic was cracked it wasn’t. The pic exploit was fixed a few days ago. The person who got on didn’t bypass the pic cause even if you get in the game without entering the pic it will still pop up. Do you really think gm accounts are made the same way like regular accounts? For all we know gm only need username and password to login.

Ever thought this if the gm had to have his info pasted in the clipboard wouldn’t his pic be right after it? What about his pin it should have been pasted right after too? Seeing that this gm clearly can remember his info. The pic should have been right after the login/pw

In the past few pages all i see is "PIC was cracked etc" here is the thing where is your source? I don’t see a ss of the hacker at the gm character selection screen. Here is the funny thing a lot of people have a different version of the pic that was supposedly on the account. "It was 123456" "NO it was eckorulez" "It was abcdefg" Saw someone said that it wasn’t even ecko who did it. Someone was able to login on the gm account it probably needed a pin and that’s easy to crack.

If pic was really this easy to crack don’t you think the mass hacking epidemic would still be going on?

I got a bag of doritos ready to start who shall be first?

It took a few hours before someone got in. If it didn't need a PIC, it would have been jacked far sooner.

No, because you can't type in your PIC. There's no evidence that he can't remember his password, it's pointing more to him just being lazy.
