Basically, I'm sure if you've RP'ed at least once or twice in your life, you've had random members popping in asking to join. I've seen this tons. Unlike the traditional "club"-only sort of RPs, people may join in whenever. Problem with this is that the plot or the story will have endless bounds of twists and turns. You never know where it may head. However, I would like to do a serious Role Play. Yeah, I realize:
a) This is SP
b) This is SP
c) This is SP
d) You're all probably not capable of that.
Let's admit it, someone will probably jump in randomly typing about random flying hamsters from outer-space when we're doing a thing about a "Slice of Life" genre RP, as an example. But I'd still like to make an attempt. Who knows, some of you might have RP'ed in the past on other forums. I started about a good 8 years ago? Maybe longer, but I loved to RP. If anybody's interested, let me know. Not sure what I'm planning on doing though. Probably the typical College/High School setting involving random murders, OR the same setting, but with demons. Whichever. If I don't think either works, I'll do an RP that's more-or-less a bit random.

Understood. Awesome. I'm not sure on whether I'm allowing god-modding or not, because ...
Pros:
-Makes RP more consistent
-Easier to get in the groove
Cons:
-Users might disagree with another user's control over his/her character
-Some users might use this to their own gain by battling another person and make his/herself invincible
In some of the more advanced RPs I participated in 8 years ago (GameWinner's Forums, Clubs&Clans -> Clubs&Clans Wars), they had battles. You were allowed to 'god-mod', per-se. Though you were not allowed to make yourself invincible, in lots of my RPBs, I purposely controlled the OTHER user to sever my arm or leg to make my own character weaker, to be fair. So yeah, dunno yet. Thanks for being interested though.
So far, it's me and you, CoB.
Small portion of what I did on another forum, surprisingly.. found it. So rusty..

Tao stood still, observing Roi’s movements from a distance away.
“..Thank you for your generosity, but I am not here for food. Rather, I am looking for someone to fight against. A fight to test the limits of my skills, do you accept..?” Tao stood confidently as he crossed his arms, while staring directly at Roi’s eyes. As he stared into Roi’s eyes, he noticed that Roi wasn’t an ordinary guy, he sensed no fear within Roi at all. Tao was somewhat intrigued by that, and smirked.
“. . . . You’re an odd guy.” Roi smirked back at Tao, and from his hand, he threw a shuriken at Tao.
In response to that attack, Tao shifted his feet into a front-stance, with his left foot in front. His left foot, touching the back of a rock that was slightly to the left of him. He lifted it with his left foot, then while the rock was in mid-air, he spun around and kicked the rock with his right foot. The rock then flew forward at the shuriken. The shuriken then got repelled by the force of the attack, and flew upwards, while the rock was still flying towards Roi. Roi evaded the rock by crouching down, then approximately 2 seconds later, the shuriken descended and landed to the right of Roi.
“… If I may ask, what style of fighting is that?” Roi questioned.
“It’s known as Tai-Chi. Tai-Chi is a fighting style that is used defensively, and to master Tai-Chi, one has to bond with nature. Knowing the physics and your surroundings is one key element of Tai-Chi. I retired many years ago at a Temple, and now I’m just searching for a worthy opponent to battle against. I hope you’re worth my time..” Tao calmly responded.
“.. So I see.” Roi nodded, suddenly, Roi tested Tao’s skills by charging right at Tao. Tao immediately stood in a horse-stance, and aimed both of his hands at Roi. As Roi almost reached Tao, Roi decided to swing his right arm at Tao’s face. Tao then hastily swung his left arm towards Roi’s right arm, then Tao grabbed Roi’s right hand and slightly twisted it. Roi then used his left foot and tried to knock down Tao’s right foot, attempting to trip him, Roi’s left foot kicked Tao’s right kneecap.
I'm not sure about what to do with god mode, since that's what ended the longest running RPG on Southperry =P. I had no real way to enforce it, and, I dunno, if it did happen, then it'll feel weird to just ignore that person's post.
It's also a pain in the arse with inactive people. Waiting several days for them to respond while everyone else is moving on with the plot...IRC helps. A lot.
The only other person I think will join is Mira. Sign left, ZYWVUT is MIA, and everyone else who participated in the RPG I can't remember, probably because they were inactive.
Well, that's where the improvise portion kicks in. What I've seen done in the past is, if that specific user is inactive (for let's say 2 weeks or more), we can completely take over at the time, and find a way to make their character(s) go hiatus. Like.. X went on a vacation here and there, or.. Y went to ___ city to investigate for a while, and etc.
Secondly, you can join the RP without completely being in the story. Like if the main story has 3 people involved at the moment, the 4th person might RP at a different point (like at a different town), but then joins in with the rest of them at another point, and then might split off again, and rejoin at another time. So, there's plenty of ways. God-modding does have it's limits, as far as how I've allowed it. I'll write up the list of rules once I think more people might partake in this.
ClawofBeta Wrote:Bit odd since that person will probably coms back and sas "What the pineapple have you done to my character?" and an awkward situation occurs.
Thing is, if they're gone really long, it's not your fault. It's their's for not warning ahead of time, all you can do is 'side-track' that character and stall it somehow that won't affect the storyline or that character significantly.
K, been a day already. Guess it's only us two that's interested? I'm not surprised. Most people on SP wouldn't be able to type anything longer than 'a' paragraph anyways. I'll let you know when I come up with an idea for the Role Play. Probably going to one of those 'school-life' (Slice of Life ones, especially) with some Supernatural twist to it. Hmm..
ClawofBeta Wrote:I'm going to pester Mira to join.
That would be great. I'm looking forward to some serious RP'ing too, not just the typical 3 lines posts. God, you have no idea how much that annoys me. It's worse than seeing:
God, had i not seen this earlier...
iuno what it is, whenever theres a post in this forum it never alerts me. the only way is if i check the Whats New tab, or go into the forum myself.
ive never actually been in a RP game on a forum, and the closest i can say that i have was when, on the older, original nexon forums, i wrote a fanfic using the names of members of the bellocan forum there. it went on for a good 8 chapters before the project was abandoned. sadly; and it was a pretty decent one too IMO. incorporated the various towns of MS, the servers too even. the jobs were expanded upon and tweaked, made them interesting and gave them all a purpose and a higher power.
but i babble; hell to the mother effing yes id like in. just gimme a sec to read through the other threads, and/or inform me via iRC or even MSN even. whatever works, id like to keep informed, due to SP not updating me when theres a new post in this forum.
Extremely long and complicated Role Plays was the only reason I enjoyed staying at forums a long time ago, I enjoy typing one Role Play to the next and interact with other user's character(s). To me, it was fun.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni- Wikipedia Plot Summary
The main character, Keiichi Maebara, moves to Hinamizawa and befriends his new classmates Rena Ryuugu, Mion Sonozaki, Rika Furude, and Satoko Hojo. Keiichi joins their after-school club activities, which consist mostly of card and board games (and punishment games for the loser, usually him.) Hinamizawa appears to be a normal, peaceful, rural village to Keiichi. However, the tranquility abruptly ends after the annual Watanagashi Festival, a celebration to commemorate and give thanks to the local god, Oyashiro. Keiichi learns that every year for the past four years, one person has been murdered and another has gone missing on the day of the Watanagashi Festival. Keiichi himself soon becomes drawn into the strange events surrounding the Watanagashi Festival and Oyashiro. In each story arc, he or one of his friends become paranoid, and a crime is committed. Usually, the crime involves the murder of one of their own friends. While it seems impossible to tell their delusions apart from the mystery of Hinamizawa, slowly the truth is revealed.
Higurashi was pretty good at transitioning from what looked like a slice of life comedy in a school setting, to going to what we all know and love Higurashi for. You could literally walk in on someone watching it, and mistake it for a genre that it doesn't really fall under at all. Is that what you're looking for?
Anyways, as for the topic: slice of life, high school setting. I'd like a nice, mellow game; and it'd be particularly fun to do using my character, Michael Jackson the Cyber Slayer.

'Was' going for it. But now I predict it might turn into one of those Yu Yu Hakusho + Shakugan no Shana thing. I just noticed my character reminds me of Shana. F'ck. Not intended. Oh well.
