Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users?
Mazz Wrote:If you are the only person to have your registered email then you're pretty safe in this instance, just don't use it for any types of forum or blog, etc.

Not true unfortunately.
Numerous people in numerous threads have stated that the registered email is easily obtainable once game user ID and password are known.
In fact, one poster implied that all you need is in-game-name to retrieve email and full name.
Even if the hackers cannot retrieve hack or bypass the PIC codes, they can fall back to the hack the email and reset approach.
The only things left that may save you are birthday and unhackable email. If your account is over 2 years old, you would have had to use one of the big free hackable email domains like hotmail; they didn't allow just any ISP email. And if you were not of a paranoid mindset when you registered you may have used your real birthday.

Right now, right in front of a person in Alliance, ChixNorris of Khaini got hacked. The alliance person said it was one of the same group of hackers. So for a brief while we thought the PIC is worthless. Chix is a big group of high-lvl people so on a hunch I messaged another one of them, UglyChix just to make sure. UglyChix told me that the hacker had penetrated ChixNorris's EMAIL. So, the PIC should protect you provided your email is secure. Please see my guide in Guides on how to change your pass to your email to something really secure. Nexon's database has been penetrated, but these people cannot do the same with Gmail or hotmail or something.

The exploit for G-mail is easy. I just did it to get my old mule account back [I had given everything away when I RQ'd Windia]. Redface You don't even need your password, just the account.

Make a Google Account and enter your G-Mail into the E-Mail field. It'll bind your new Google Account and existing G-Mail together and give you full control. No questions asked. I'd recommend all of you bind any G-mail linked accounts to a Google Account.

Chances are your accounts are already all set-up with a google account if you use multiple google services, though. An e-mail that was made through the gmail page and never touched is up for grabs. You can make a Google Account here.

Edit: This is recent information for me, since I've been trying to get old accounts lost back to me. All were registered with G-Mail. I've done it twice so far with no hang-ups. Both E-Mails were still functioning [so I couldn't reregister them in the G-Mail Account fields] and had no connection to other Google services [Youtube, News, etc...]

Also, once they have your ID and PW, you're boned. Last name and E-mail are obtainable from filling out any of the event forms [sending an e-mail to a friend] where they display the full name and email. Another SPer mentioned somewhere in this thread that there was a working BDay cracker out. Even if they didn't get their hands on that, they now have enough information to possibly look you up in any social networking site and get whatever the hell they want from there.

I'm really waiting for one of you victims to have lost something in terms of NX to file a court case/take it up with a lawyser. You all should know that by now Nexon isn't going to do a thing until we show them we're serious.

I keep seeing "I'm seriously going to be angry and write letters" and other such empty threats. And by empty, I mean it's not going to change a thing if you don't actually take the case to court, period.

To the OP, if you lost 1.6 mil worth of NX, then I think you honestly have one of the strongest grounds to sue them on. That's equivalent to $1600.

Court fees for filing a claim alone easily can surpass 3K.

If the victim happens to live in California things are much easier, they can file through small claims court for a nominal fee and fight Nexon without any lawyers being allowed.

As the defendant, it would then be incumbent upon Nexon to prove the account was not compromised on their end, and their proof would become public record.

I live in Canada, and that's even worse in terms of legal fees. I think cases here need fees to be paid up front, whereas I heard in the US, you don't get charged if a lawyer decides to take your case and your prosecution fails. Plus I believe this belongs in small claims court, so I doubt that would attract much media attention anyway. It's not 'worth' it for me, and that's probably why Nexon doesn't care because they know a lot of people cannot and would not do anything about it, lawful-wise.

The only time a lawyer will work without payment upfront in the U.S. is when it's related to physical injury or malpractice and they're almost guaranteed a nice cut at the end.
For a consumer law affair like this it'd be pay up front unless it looked likely to go class action for a nice pay out, and even then they'd require filing fees, travel, and any other up front costs.

To be honest, you're the only person I would trust to represent both yourself and us in a case against Nexon. You're the least likely to have shared any personal information and the most formal in terms of speech. Least likely to get burned for saying the wrong thing. I mean, if anyone were to take Nexon to court for themselves, they would be representing everyone. A loss would be a big one.

I appreciate the vote of confidence but really it'd come down the lawyers involved more than the initiating party.
I'm personally all tied up in a $7,000 dispute with my movers right now, adjusting to a new city, and didn't really lose enough to be considered a significantly injured party in any legal action.

I figured there might be some confusion and was going to edit my post. I didn't mean you should actually do it; that would be a large burden to put on you. Just saying that if anyone were going to, you'd be our best bet in terms of representation. Of course, I also meant small claims court.

Update: I received a second BBB e-mail, hoping to see what Nexon would have said to my rebuttal. Well, I got another copy & paste job, but this time it wasn't from Nexon.

On the bright side, that should drop their grade.

Yea, to a B-, then people will forget about this epidemic and their grade will improve again. This is all following a set pattern.

Or the suckups will beg for higher ratings for NEXON, as they always do.
