Spoiler
Arceus is particularly based on a creator deity, present in many world cultures. Or it may be a reference to the Chinese mythical creature, the Qilin. Its myth is nearly identical to that of the Pangu, the Chinese creation deity.
Arceus may also be inspired by (or a representation of) Avalokiteśvara who, in Buddhism, is either pictured with eleven heads and one thousand arms (the latter of which is mentioned in Arceus's flavor text) or in a white four-armed manifestation (which could look similar to Arceus's Normal form).
Some inspiration may have come from a horse, because of its Platinum sprite and attack movements in Pokémon Battle Revolution.
Arceus, as the master of the Dragon trio, may also based on Kaptan, the ruler of heaven and the king of the gods, according to the Philippine mythology.
Source: Bulbapedia - Origins and Pokémon types. Typos might have been made, please do not flame me if I typed any Asian name wrong as I'm not from Asia myself.
As you can see there hasn't been any Pokémon with an entry like "God", "Devil" or "Demon" yet. Arceus was the Alpha Pokémon whilst Mew was the New Species Pokémon.

Since this isn't the funhouse:
I'm a bit dissapointed in it. The first form has a very round-cute look to it, which became popular starting in Hoenn. I did not like this round look. The second form looks over done, like they wanted to make the most flashy pokemon ever, with two colors.

Deity and God go hand and hand. Look more at Arceus' information, it points to him being related to godly figures, including Avalokitesvara, who I've already referenced to. Arceus isn't a "god" in the sense of Christianity, but the back story we have on it would certainly point to it being godly in most cultures.
By the way, Giratina's back story doesn't seem to be included there, but I remember once it was stated that he was banished by Arceus to his own dimension. I have to find the original text. It didn't specifically say Arceus and Giratina, but it was very obvious it was referring to the two. Just as the lore behind the 3 pixies don't specify their name, and instead refers to the emotions they represent.
Pokedex for Giratina Wrote:It was banished for its violence. It silently gazed upon the old world from the Distortion World.
Connecting that to the lore found in the game's library, adds more the the "Giratina is the 'demon' of Pokemon" idea.
I'm starting to wish that samurai bird concept for a Farfetch'd evolution was real. Farfetch'd could use some more love, and they should really do something to make this obnoxiously rare Pokemon actually worth it to get. It's also far cooler than this "Zoroark" wimp, by the way.
As for the Phantom Ruler Zoroark movie, it seems like another Lucario and the Mystery of Mew: a cool way to hype the next generation of Pokemon.
It's first form reminds me of Vulpix except darker and with a pointier nose.. o_O its evolution is kinda like Lucario but darker looking. :f6: intriguing well it looks ok I suppose.

Reminds me more of Shinx, personally.

Spoiler
In a vortex of complete chaos and nothingness, a single egg comes into being, which then hatches into Arceus, the first Pokémon in existence. Arceus creates Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, giving them power over time, space, and antimatter. Giratina, as punishment for its destructive nature, is sent by Arceus to live in the Distortion World. Dialga and Palkia succeed in creating the universe and Pokémon world, retreating into their own dimensions afterwards, with a point of access being at Spear Pillar in Sinnoh.
According to that, Giratina was banished to the Distortion World due to its destructive nature.
Shippo the Fox Wrote:I just hope that the Elite Four is a lot more challenging than D/P/P. Aside from Cynthia's teams, it was really crap.
However, the game overall for D/P/P was the best so far so lets see if they can top themselves.
(And the Elite Four teams from the HG/SS remakes don't look great either.)
The Elite 4 isn't supposed to be challenging, that's why the Battle Frontier exists.

Whenever anything gets too successful, the creators feel the need to keep it going forever and ever to milk every last penny out of it so they don't have to think original thoughts anymore until their creation becomes another mental patient twitching in the corner. I wish they'd just put Pokemon out of its misery already.

i think the next step logically is a pogeyman MMO. BE THE BEST POGEYMASTER IN ALL THE REAL WORLD!!
sorry, im all for the dark type, but if thats the flagship of the next gen...
im very disappointed. Poochyena was decent enough. now this? >_>
Hazzy Wrote:I hope the GAME is more challenging. They've been getting easier every generation to cater to the 8 year old population. Teenagers play the games too.
Making a game easy with post-game difficulty or chosen difficulty (in pokemon's case, rechallenging old trainers) is more convenient for EVERYONE than making a game that's hard all around. While it may be what you want, it's not what will sell games.
