Why I believe Maple Story 2 will be a prequel

Based on the loose translation of a conference a few months ago, a Nexon Korea official stated that they were working Maple Story 2 and that it would feature the legendary characters.

I believe that the legendary characters they were referring to are the first to have fought the Black Magician, including Aran. This would give them time to finish releasing the new legends and providing the players with bits and pieces of the story while setting them up to experience the real war and a more primitive maple.

It goes without saying that this would take place long ago, before Victoria Island was populated. This leaves a whole world of discovery available, the uncovering of the Sharenian ruins (or perhaps the Sharenians were alive at this point?) and perhaps there were natives to the island before the escapees arrived. The landscape could be dramatically different so it wouldn't be a complete rehash of the current maple story.

Part of the Leafre quests mentions that the dragons there were once friendly; perhaps this is where Mir and such come from. It allows for a completely refreshing look at Leafre as well as the possibility of new unimaginable threats. (Hehe, baby manon as a boss?) Magatia is where the Black Magician practiced his alchemy, which opens it up to all sorts of story related quests.

The point is, there is enough story PIECES here, while a lot is still completely unexplained or left to the imagination for them to build a solid story-based game from the view of the original heroes and their war against the Black Magician.

I would love a prequel instead of a sequel.
But, I doubt nexon would come up with a name that can define that it's a prequel. Maplestory 2 sucks pomegranate, and it would mean a sequel.

I'd love a more complete history of the Maple World. Where did Victoria Island's people come from? "Island" is used to describe a small segment of land... not the main contentent. Wonder what the "Mother land" is like.

Filling in the blanks between when people first landed on Victoria Island and 'now' could be done in the current Maple Story through massive quest expansion.... would take a few years. Plenty of life time for Nexon's Cash crop.

I always thought of Ossyria as being populated after people populated Victoria Island. It's huge, and goes off of the World Map, but all the Job Advancers are in Victoria, or near by. :|

That reminds me, I could have sworn that there was something in-game that claimed that Victoria Island used to be attached to the main continent of Ossyria, but that it somehow split away (probably due to something the Black Magician did). Am I just getting crap mixed up like usual, or did this really happen?

Masteria isn't endorsed by Nexon Korea so I doubt we'd ever see anything like that.

It depends. The people inhabiting Victoria now were from around the world, most presumably from Ossyria. However, at least one indigenous tribe called the Sharenians lived in Perion long before its current inhabitants.

Well, since this is Nexon Korea who'll be working on MapleStory II, then I doubt they'd work on that. Unless they somehow teamed up with Nexon America. Orrr.. if NXAmerica makes their own.. unique, completely different version of MSII? :f6:
