Gaviota can be somewhat useful for its single point since it costs no time at all to cast and pumps out defense-ignoring damage. However, at the Newtie sniping platform without icing, it can rarely hit the Newtie you want, and is fairly otherwise useless in my opinion. Homing is completely useless that early on. You should never need to Homing something that early on, and it would most likely be more harm than help since Burst Fire has a minimum range and being Homed on something strong enough to be worth Homing means other mobs will walk into your minimum without getting shot to death.

@above, if your Burst Fire could only kb 60% of the time, your Flamethrower should only be kbing 50% of the time.

I dont think its useless. I just think that 4th job the extra 4 levels would be better spent in Ice, because later, flame gets replaced by other skills.

I was told that homing is great for HH.

I dunno, like i said earlier, this is my highest lvl char, and I have no clue about any high lvled monsters

Just wanted too share that today flamethrower has been very helpfull. I was doing the first regret quest and my burst fire couldn't 100% knockback them about 60% or so. they can't be frozen so I had too stun them. They come in pretty large mobs so if you space it right you can flamethrower 3 while they're stunned combine that with another attack and it's better dps more diverse and fun, oww and it also kbed them 100% iirc. Just felt like sharing that since I'm under the impression that you think flamethrower is next too useless.

No one is saying it is useless. The majority opinion is that 26 Flamethrower is more than sufficient, and maxing Ice Spitter makes more sense since most use it more often. The usability of Flamethrower at level 26 is damn near close to its usefulness at level 30.
