Start MapleStory from the Website
#21
given previous games, it will only open in IE. I hate IE. A lot. I look forward to people remaking all of this into a nice client. <_<

@how it already does that:
You can Alt F4 to make it nice and short. Hoars probably removed login screen altogether, which makes life just fun when relogging into accounts for transfering, etc.

If this works like kMS, GameLauncher.exe should do the same thing as our current client... <3

Yeah, I was wondering that as well. After doing it for Combat Arms, and knowing that something similar was done in KMS, I was expecting them to do this at some point in time.

I really don't like it, if you ask me. It seems to be a waste.

Edit: It doesn't only open in IE. It should open in other browsers as well. I can confirm this for Firefox.

DFO and CA only opened in IE last time I checked (God knows how long ago). I hate no faith in Nexon to get this one right.

I have a bad feeling about this, I know somebody that used FireFox to login to DFO because opening the game on Opera does not work, so if I have to open download and open up FireFox just to play Maple, this would be a serious kick in my face.

This would require a web sight update? Glitter
*hopes for a more ITCG onlineish web page*

They could do this already without the new system.

I sure hope this doesn't mean every time you quit game, it completely exits instead of bringing you back to the login screen. Tongue What a pain in the ass it'll be to switch characters.

If it's like KMS switching between char from the same account is easy/faster as quitting the game, bring you back to the char or world selection can't remember. But yeah switching account is gey, that why lot of people in KMS use the GameLauncher.exe as it behave the same way our client do right now.

I hate this. This was one of the most annoying things when I was playing Gunbound ijji.

I don't play MapleStory enough to care about where they put the start button. I rarely hit it as it is. Although, I think it's kind of lame.

CA opens in Firefox. I just tried it.
It works even if you don't have Firefox open at the time. As long as you have Firefox set as your main browser, it should work.

Interesting...

From a security standpoint, how protective of your ID and password will this be? Isn't it easier to get keylogged or have a keylogger implanted via your browser's cache that the chances of something actually installing itself on your computer?

Also the lack of a PIN could be troublesome for security.

I don't see how will this help in terms of security. Also, what is this about removing the need for a PIN??? :f6:

The PIN thing was only a rumor I heard, I don't know if it is being removed or not.

Starting games from websites has always annoyed the pomegranate out of me. Seems kind of backward if you ask me.

It is not limited to IE anymore.

So basically, if their site crashes, we are without news on what's going on AND we can't play?

If their site was down, you probably wouldn't be able to play anyway. And when's the last time you remember their site being down that wasn't planned downtime?

I could see more crash attempts if no site = no playing.
