What are your thoughts in Privates servers?

Tell us, what do you think about private servers? do you like them? hate them? dont care? I personaly dont really mind them, i admit i play one but there is nbothing like the good GMS

They're fair, even though I've never played them. They actually speed-up the experience of the game.

Fair. P-servers lets me open my opportunities to explore classes a bit more without the tedious 24/7 grinding 'mindset' of most Maplers (may be an exaggeration). However, I prefer the actual gMS, because all my friends plays it. If a p-server slightly boosted gMS's EXP rate without OVERDOING it, it can be a great p-server. If the p-server hands out everything like money falling off a tree, it's no fun then. It's like getting to lv 200 in less than 3 hours, why would you bother? No sense of accomplishment.

So it really depends, but I don't view p-servers as OMGTERRIBLE.

Good for test drives. Instead of asking your friend for their account info of their 18x hero, you can just fire up a pserver in 5 minutes and you got your 18x hero to test drive. If you like what you see, go and make on on the real thing.

I personally prefer pservers because everything stressful of gMS is eliminated or significantly reduced.

I basically use them for damage testing and scroll testing. I would never give up playing gMS for a PS..... yet

That's basically what I do too. When I played p-servers, I found out that a lot of things about certain classes that I didn't know or understand before. I even did testing on damage by comparising classes (clean equips). Because of all the testing I did, I know for a fact that a Night Lord was always the correct class for me.

I use them to test out new classes or the effect of different equips.

Before I spent a hell of a lot of money on that 1 Extra Attack, I want to know whether or not its actually worth all that money.

It's the pineappleing idiots who donate that QQ over servers shutting down.

OT: I like 'em. I play to test out classes/new nx looks or just play when I'm bored of MW2 or the tedious grind.

I just made one so I can test being a GM XD.

I used PS as a ways to have fun scrolling godly stuff cause you can't have godly stuff in real MS without uber money or uber luck. chaos scrolling is a lot of fun and so is 10%ing crap with white scrolls. I wanted to find a reasonable PS where you could do all that stuff, but without the need for all the billions of mesos.

The ones with x500 exp and all that rebirth pomegranate are boring as hell. I only toyed around with one just to see what it was like but kinda lost interest quickly.

Private servers are a waste of space and time. You should only play on the real server. If you want to test stuff, take your time and test it on the real game. All private servers should be shut down and the owners sued for massive amounts of money.

Lol more like 1-250 in a minute. At least, that was my private server experience. Though, with rebirthing and the ability to cap AP stats at 30k, it took a good few hours invested over several days to meet that.

But I still don't think they're boring. I mean, I agree with everyone saying you shouldn't quit a real server for a private server, since you'll quickly find yourself out of options, but they're nice for real server downtime, testing other classes, and having fun scrolling/killing stuff. In other words, I believe a private server should be just that: a private place to mess around with aspects of the game you normally wouldn't get to test without investing hours and dollars, NOT a place to find accomplishment.

This lol. I think moving to a private server would be legit if you're hacked in GMS.

COMPLTELY AGREE with Ken's post. @fmnpc warping you to any boss map in the game, bosses spawning in FMs, every scroll available for 100 meso and the ability to get max meso in a matter of seconds? It's nice. Hell, private servers are therapeutic. Bomb your 80 att Craven? Go scroll a 95 att one in a minute. Waste $50 USD on Gachapon to get a bunch of crap gear? Go buy an Elemental Wand from the command NPC and wreak havoc. If you're serious about a real MapleStory server, you should seriously consider finding a worthwhile private server to vent.

Id say that 98% are totaly safe, mostly the customised ones but on topic:

In my opinion i say that they arent that bad at all, as long as they are not 99999999999999999999999x exp and 88888888888888888888888x mesos, i prefer low rates,its not wrong trying a private server, think about RO, there were thousands of PS and then they released the Valkririe server. They took an action that wasnt so severe and was good for everyone

i personally like P- severs... yet the only ones i like are the low times exp and mesos. like other say the random high rates exp and meso are crazy, aren't fun. the only problem with P-Severs is that it doesnt feel fully real like GMS. yet P severs have alot more positive points then a real sever. just some of the major points are better security, your able to by pass the crazy long hours to get to the fun bossing part of MS, and the community is HELL OF A LOT BETTER. i think just the fact that they make the severs just for the game. they aren't like Nexon or other game companies (just trying to take your money) they are people just like you that like the game. now my experience with P-Severs are really old(like 1-1 &1/5 years) while it was long ago i still think most of the points are valid .

when i say the security is better i mean less hacking and GM's are out and about doing things they should do( events , help answer questions, and if any problems do come they take care of it) .
