how can i get started in merchanting

Depends on how quickly you want to sell. Lower prices = faster selling.

I usually just check channel 1 fm 1 for prices. put them in your shop for like -500k or so . if it doesnt sell lower the price on the item by like 100-500k.
once it sells, then you know the price =D

and buying ores at kerning pq area for 2k each and refining them and reselling them for 200k+ are good mesos too.

There are some things that Kevin HASNT mentioned about HT, making it infinitely less attractive than the way he puts it.

1. Think of how many HT groups there are in your server. Then think of how many people go on them. The number of people able to HT are drastically higher than the people who actually go HT. Supposing there are two groups, who go with max people, that's only 60 HTers per server. Also, this is assuming they go at a time you're available to go with them at.
2. Horntail isnt as cheap as Kevin makes it. If you make a bowmaster or night lord, you almost certainly have to HP wash, which will cost you hundreds of dollars worth in nx. Servers are filled with bishops as it is, so good luck with that. This leaves melee characters, mostly heroes and drks (with no insult to paladins). Just remember that whatever class you make, you'll have to spend a decent amount on skills to be truly useful at HT.

Sure, horntail is good money...but there are tonnes of variables to consider. While you dont need a shop, you need to spend at least <some> funding into your char (skillbooks, hp washing, etc) to be able to do it for the most part. Personally, in terms of advice to make money, I'd say hunting for chaos scrolls is worth a try (zombie mushrooms, then drum bunnies). Area bosses are good money too, especially if you can get multiple tracks. In one day that I held tracks of 80 tracks at once, I made I think 300ish mill in a day or so. Of course, finding scrolls requires some degree of luck, but its definitely worth it till you're within range to HT.

Ps. Sucking up definitely gets you into communities. I've seen it happen all too much. All you gotta do is be nice to people, care about how they're doing and keep complimenting them about how pro they are. That certainly seems to work in Scania anyways.

You can't afford a wedding unfortunately, but it's definitely worth it if you can acquire a good amount of Apples.

Gachi and Boxes aren't worth it unless you buy many or are extremely lucky. Store is definitely worth it. Maybe save the rest for 2x events?

How did you make 1.5 mil by level 30? I'm at 32 with my I/L mage and only have 840,000.

For Leprechauns don't you have to be at least level 40?

I think the key to merchanting is turnover. Buy low and sell medium, enough so it sells relatively quick but not enough to make it worthwhile for a pro-merchant to shell out mesos. Like one poster said, in the beginning it might take some trial and error.

i cant seem to find a steady conversion between NX and mesos.

MTS Merchanting is the same thing as FM-ing... It should be easy... just look at scroll prices in MTS and compare them with the actual meso prices. That ratio is the NX to Meso conversion. You can get the hang of it by spending hours learning about prices and actually trying it for yourself.

Should be easy since you are allowed to search for a particular item...
