I actually did send a BBB complaint about their ticketing system. 3 days later I was sent a letter saying they acknowledged it. I really didn't see a change besides a few more legit tickets.

did anyone else notice how account protection went down over the years? you don't need e-mail confirmation, or your secret answer to go into account info and edit passwords for example.

It was a double edge sword. Their older version was so strict you could lose the account if you didn't know 10/10 of the 'important' information. I remember my oldest account I lost during the secret question switch up and there's nothing I could do even though I could supply every other piece of information.

T.T my bff's bishop acct and her bf's acct were hacked ;[ they quit last year and only i have the info to her bishop =( hacker is strange, half stripped the bishop and her sin, took most of the money, but left her apples and scrolls on mule. pin password unchanged too. guildies told me sumone logged on the bf's acct around 6:30-7am PST yesterday (hacker isnt from US?)
;[ absolutely no idea how they got in, especially since my bff and her bf dont play anymore and dont visit forums/maple fansites, and they dont even know what email they used to create the accounts ;[

*edit* bff's email was a yahoo one, so i guess it doesnt matter which email service they use =( finding out the email is absurdly easy, nexon has horrible security. i knew her last name and her bday, so i got into her acct easily and bam! they showed the email on the page. i guess its time to make accts with fake absurb names like LickMyShoe JonesSoda or something to be safe ;[ I want security questions back ;[

I was going to wait for Eosian to respond because he has better control over handling such situations than I do but I'll give you a brief rundown of what I think would be most important in a letter to the BBB (which is what everyone should be doing in the next step.)
First, if you have been hacked or have sent a ticket regarding the hackings in the past few weeks, copy both your original ticket and their response and prepare them accordingly (don't edit anything, of course. You'll invalidate your claim.) Include date ticket was filed, any additions to the ticket and the date of their response.
Second, note what you lost if you can. Do not make things up, it will invalidate your claim. Nexon does have back-up copies of data (as demonstrated in the monster book fiasco) and can likely pull up recent account history for you which would include your inventory and MTS items. Make sure to note how NX much you lost and how it was spent. Also explain what the MTS is just for the sake of clarity
Third, compile a brief list (like some of you have) of your general internet browsing habits, make it clear that virus scans have shown no keyloggers. Be as confident as you can that this is no fault of your own, but don't say anything that you don't know for sure to be true, like speculating on Nexon's security. As knlbr just commented, make sure you point out how insecure their general account protection is, and also that beyond your password and pin, you are not able to change any personal information.
Finally, give a brief commentary on what you've seen/read here to further back-up that this is not isolated.

This one isn't really a sponsored SP community effort (unless an admin really feels it should be), so need to wait for me. You've covered the important parts.
Personally I'm waiting for them to close my ticket before I consider the BBB, just because I've already harassed two employees directly regarding this.

Ive like given up at this point. But to benefit the khani community of which I have given so much, if they close my ticket without a satisfactory resolution, I will file BBB along with you guys.

I really sorry to hear the hacking wave hitted you Eos, but i guess was necessary to finally prove that what is happening lately is not a rumor a ilusion or some kind of story people was making to try bring out attention.
i filled a ticket day 11/11/2009 and so far is still there, with the "escalated" status, what i guess will be there forever.
i really dont know what can be done about it, and is like i dont care anymore, i quitted game and wont play maple anymore since the stress i was having and the feeling that nexon dont care about me was making me feel really bad what sucks since games should be something fun to stress out and not to bring more of it to my life ><
But i still have faith something can be done, and i think we should do the BBS or something of that kind to make Nexon move, i still have friends that like to play the game and i am getting tired to see this happening over and over , last week another friend of mine got hacked, same thing again and is happening all the time non stop, and Nexon dont say nothing, what more is necessary to bring out attention to this? ><

Chirdaki, I understand your reservations, frustration, and wanting to just wash your hands of this but as one of the hardest hit, your help is very important. The process with everything I've described, assuming you're very thorough, shouldn't take more than an hour of your time. That hour could be enough to rally Nexon and maybe get you some real closure. I think it's worth it.
The same goes for you hendrix. Take your "elevated" ticket and make sure to note that it has been "elevated" for over two months now. Your issue seems to have occurred much earlier than all others but the fact that they haven't responded to you is still unacceptable.
Everyone else, please do what you can. This doesn't just have to be about the hacking issue, all other claims of negligence will work to prove to the BBB that Nexon isn't running their company in any manner that could be considered acceptable to their customers.
If anyone needs help with writing a report send me a PM with the information you have and I can and am more than willing to help you sort through it. If you've sent a report and don't want to say it for whatever reason please let me know. I just want to know that I'm not the only one who's serious about this.

ive had a "escalated" ticket that was finally resolved after a year. I posted comments without response every month, asking for updates, without luck. I wonder if i should send that in to the BBB.

I for once, agree with Sarah. For once, we as the players, some of us, who are contributing to Nexon's wealth, have a right to say "hey, we're giving money to you, but you're not doing your job as a company". Why should we let other players, as well as ourselves suffer just because we're trying to contact them, and they're not answering? Report that sh't. They're not doing their job, they should gain low ratings, and hopefully get punished.

Thanks for the offer but can write quite the persuasive essay when the need occurs. The ticket I filed about being hacked, which is "escalated" atm, is quite the masterpiece imo detailing what happened what I lost exact dates ect. It has been open for a month, I lost everything Dec 14th between 6-8 AM Central Time. It took them 8 days to just acknowledge that I put a request in. I have a copy saved to my desktop just incase. I had to write one of these things to get my hotmail account recovered which they responded in a timely enough matter (24 hour).
I already got doubly nailed by trying to make the community aware when the/a hacker decided to punish me and delete my shad by re-hacking me a 2nd time.
Its not that I am one to give up, quite the opposite. But the severe lack of attention being dealt with this issue coupled with nexon's history is such an obstacle to overcome. My friend mentioned that I could even report the email hacking and account hacking to the FBI as information theft and online currency theft (NX). Took a quick look at the FBI homepage apparently there's a link on the homepage to due with internet crimes. I live in Canada though and I really don't want to start a battle I severely doubt I can win. Such a report would probably incur many followup emails and possible phone calls when I really value my free time and privacy.
In the end Nexon has proven that it really doesn't care for its players so beyond submitting a detailed ticket, my motivation to physically wring their proverbial necks until something intelligent pops out, has diminished. I seem to have adopted a defeatist attitude sometime after my shad was taken down.

Are these account hackings linked to using MSN or something? I read about many cases where people get hacked through MSN. idk
Well, I think this might spread widespread panic. I have never been hacked in all of my four years of Maple so I'm really worried that I might be targeted next. :x

Mine had no relation to MSN, hotmail, or any other email provider.

Ditto on that. I'm really beginning to think whoever is doing this compromised the Nexon database after their big system upgrade during the Galicia patch.

By the way, in case this wasn't obvious, if you're worried about your account, go change your password now. If someone else is still able to access your account after that, that just means everyone is at risk then.
