1) Do you guys commute or dorm at university? Assuming that the majority of you are in college / university. If you commute, how far do you drive, or how many minutes does it take for you to drive there? What are you majoring in? How many days do you attend classes? Number of credits for current semester?
2) What kind of social-group do you guys conform or join? If you feel this question is a bit too personal, describe one event in which you felt like you belonged in that social group OR events that you feel are memorable or of significance to you!
Go.
Actually, I'll answer my own questions as an example:
Quote:1) I currently commute, and it's a good 25-30 minutes drive on the highway to my university. If I speed anywhere from 65-80 mph, I can get home in about a good 18-20 mins. Majoring in Computer Information Systems, go to school 3 days a week, 12 credits.
2) My friends are all awkward and unique in our own ways, I have the typical gamer-stereotype friends, the hard-ass partying people, and then there's the "Everybody knows me in this town!" sorta people.
One of the most queer moments I've ever had with anybody, which rather shocked me was 3 events:
a) First time knowing my friend, Andrew, we were acquaintances before, and at a community-center, there was a party going on. He went through the door, saw me and grabbed my ass. I was shocked, stepped away, and said "What the f*ck", followed by a twitch. (He's not gay, he just knows I hate it when guys grabs my ass)
b) I was at my friend's house drunk, on the couch. I was sleeping. It was 2:30 AM, this one guy next to me was drunk, he saw me on the couching sleeping with my head ducked down. He felt my ass. I woke up to the sight of him feeling my ass. I was too tired to say anything at this point, and drunk. The next day, I confronted him about it. He wasn't gay. He just thought I was a chick because apparently, I have a, and I quote "tight ass".
c) At the cafe, people there all grab each other's asses, and as long as you say "Good game" after the grab, it's legit and definitely not-homo. I've been ass-grabbed many times by females and males.

Short version.
1. I dormed in an old building called the George Washington, it use to be a hotel and some of the creepy New Yorkers still live in it (not just students).Back in the 1970's or 80's the building was raided for a drug bust and has the biggest roaches you will ever see...enough to make me go into a girly scream of emotions. My major was Illustration.
2. I never had a social group really...there were People from the underground I made friends with before I lived in NYC, this chick with a straight girl crush on me that I should have totally XXX but I was nice and she had a boyfriend but the change to turn her Bisexual is still there and will be acted upon when I go to visit, there was a group a guy gamers, some from my classes and others who were just in the same major (Illustration and Comics.) We played SSB and other games on the Flat Screen in the Mezzanine. I was banging one of them under the refusal of being his girlfriend. There were tons of events to attend...like Sundance and IFC related stuff but I typically skipped out on those sorta things, I spent time in the museums and central park a bit more. Blah blah blah...

1. Dorm.
2. None. I do not socialize at college, and the only friend I've had was my second roommate from my first year.

1) I'm majoring in Computer Science.
Because it's summer I'm just doing 1 course at the moment, Programming in Matlab. It's pretty intense, but really interesting. I am just commuting. Takes me about half an hour to get there by bus and about an hour to get back (The bus schedule makes getting back a lot harder). The buses are a lot faster in the summer than they are during semester time. I have to come to university 3 times a week.
During the year I live in an apartment on campus. Semester 1 I'll be doing 3 courses (Algorithms, Software Engineering, Databases) + a big group project. Semester 2, again I'll be doing 3 courses (Networking, Networking and Security, Web Programming) + continiung the group project. I am very lucky and only have 13 hours of classes a week!! (Compared to 25 hours a week last year @_@)
I don't really get what you mean by credits.
2) lol friends. My university has a group for female computer science students. I'm a member of that and we have heaps of fun. It's nice having events without guys around - yay for no drunk idiots
A lot of my friends are computer science people. Only 2 I'd say are true geeks though
I have a few other friends though that aren't into computer science, though not many

In Pennsylvania (and I'm not going to type 'in the United States', because I could be wrong), for a CIS: Networking major such as I, back when my goal was an Associate's Degree, it was approximately.. 64 credits (4 semester). If I had a '5' credit course, it would mean the class is equivalent to 5 hours long. As in, that single class only. Sometimes, just by looking at the total credits for that particular semester, you can assume how many hours of classes a person is taking per week. 12 credits for me = 12 hours of classes per week.
I already took all of my CISCO classes that prepped me for the CCNA, however, I refuse to actually take the exam, as I am unsure of my own capabilities and do not wish to lose around 150 dollars just for 'attempting'. So right now, I'm just majoring in CIS and I have a rather knowledgeable amount of info on Networking.

1) Commute. 20-30 minutes normally, 40-50 minutes during rush hour. Major is undecided. I attend five days a week, taking 19 units.
2) I socialize with anyone I have a class with. I don't really know what to consider my main social group. Just a bunch of people with various interest.

1. I commute about 25-30 minutes. I'm a CS major. I'm taking under 15 units at the moment because I'm on the 5 year plan (yay). This coming semester I'm taking classes 4 days each week.
2. The people I socialize with generally aren't from my school. Most of my friends are either people I met during high school and still keep in touch with, people I've met through high school friends, or people I've met through my brother.

1) Commute. 20-30 minutes as well. CS major. I go to class four days a week. Two on Monday/Wednesday, and one on Tues/Thurs. I'm taking twelve credits currently.
2) I'm not really part of a social group: I only have a few friends that I've made since I moved here this summer.

1) I'm going to commute to my new school, but it'd be awesome if I could live there. Taco Bell and arcade with DDR <3. It's only about 5-10 minutes away though, so it's not worth the extra money lol.
2) I'm not really part of a social group. I tend to just go from class to class, making a couple friends every semester. I'm really shy so, I don't meet new people as easily as I'd like :|

It takes me anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes to get to school...10 by car, 30 by bus, mainly because the bus doesnt go directly to school, but goes around. I usually leave an hour early to give myself a margain of error for getting there.
As for social groups, I have a wide variety of them:
1. Church: A group of 10-20 youths I hang out with 2-3 times a week
2. High School: 3-4 guys that I meet up with once a semester to watch a movie, grab dinner, etc.
3. University: I have 2-3 different groups that I hang out with at University.
a. Music. I'm a UBC Music student, so I naturally hang around with other music students. I know and talk to roughly 10-15 people, and know most of them by name (and if not name, by look). Usually, its just idle chatter after class, before class, etc.
b. Christian clubs: Again, a group of 10-15ish people that I hang out with once or twice a week, usually for lunch, bible studies, idle chatter, etc.
I go to UBC, the biggest University in the area, so I naturally get lots of chances to meet lots of people, though often times its easy to get lost in the crowd. Apparently, in the interior version, UBCO, its smaller, and everyone knows everyone, and the community is nice and whatnot. According to my friends who went to UBCO, if no one knows you there, something's wrong with you and you most likely have no life to one degree or another.

1. Got my own room on-campus. Commute time to lectures is about 5 minutes on foot. Computer science/Mathematics 50/50 split course.
2. No friends at university, yet. Like actually 0. Everyone said it'd be supah EZ to make friends at uni, in actuality very little changes from high school.

When I go back to studying, I will be dorming at University. It's about 10 minutes on foot from the campus, and about 5 minutes walk to the main street of the CBD =] I'm doing a Bachelor of Music majoring in performance. I haven't sorted out my courses yet, though I am considering adding in some composition.

In short, I don't make friends easily. My standards are very high (I can't help it) and I haven't met many people who meet them. I tend to surround myself with people like me, otherwise I don't really connect. And I don't conform, particularly in regards to my views on alcohol, which is a big reason for my lack of friends.

Dorm. Computer Science. 5 days a week (work with school to keep a good sleeping-pattern and working-pattern). 4 courses, but idk how to convert to credits for you Americans.

The hardcore partying one at parties, and the hardcore IQ one at uni. I suppose I'm the guy that gets along with everyone, and the one who can skip school for 2 months and still get an A in every single course. I'm with people from my own class most of the time, but I'm hanging out with people from other courses, like Medicine, Physics, Mathematics, Nano-technology, etc. Especially this one guy from the Mathematics-course we have here. He's awesome.
