1H sword + shield better than a 2H sword?

So my question is, I know a 2H sword is strong but slower compared to a 1H one, and that a 1H sword while faster, would be weaker than a 2H even if both had the same attack, (unless I get a shield with attack). But does the shield really make that much of a difference? How high does an attack shield put a 1H sword compared to a 2H one. I know this related to DPS so lets say, which would be the difference in DPS between a 126 att Execuciones + a 7 str 14 att shield and a 130 Att Nibleheim?

I am asking all of this because soon I will be forging a Reverse sword for my Hero, but the thing is I can't decide wether making a Nibleheim or Execuciones.I would take the 1H one, but a good attack shield (7str / 14 att or so) is worth around 800 mill in scania, making the 1h + shield combo worth 3 times more than a 2h one. I don't wanna do this if the reward wont be that big.

Need to know how much off weapon attack and total strength you have to be exact However, a rough approximation, with an Apple, the Nibleheim would marginally win (1.002x or higher DPS). With more off-weapon/shield attack, the Nibleheim would just jump further ahead. Otherwise without the apple, the Executioners is slightly better. (about 1.02x or less DPS) You require roughly 1.05x more weapon attack to match DPS on the twohander with a onehander.

About my stats an equips I have 864 total str with MW, 10 att pendant, 15 att gloves, 3 att belt, 5 att cape, and 1 att Lilin's ring (i'm getting the 3 att one soon though). think thats it.
for what you are saying, it seems a 1H sword + shield combination is only worth the money if the sword's speed is Fast (4). I guess I will get a Nibleheim now and if we ever get Neo Tokyo and it's Lightning weapons, I will be going 1 handed.

On a per-hit basis at higher levels (180+), you would need a 21 atk shield or better for the 1h sword to match the 2h sword on raw damage per hit. Of course, speaking in terms of DPS, I believe the minimum requirement for a 1h sword to be better than 2h sword (of the same atk) is just a 2-6 atk shield (depends on your overall total atk and STR).

So in your context...in terms of DPS, the Excecutioners with the shield would win when no apple. But the higher your attack and the higher your STR, the 2h sword vs. 1h sword margin narrows drastically.

Well, considering bossing is one big aspect to think of, and that I might be using apples for big bosses like Zak or HT, I think a 2h sword wins again. Now i see why all the fuss about the lunch box and why red katanas are still popular despite reverse swords. If only I had got one when they were out.

Get a Lunchbox, sir. Before I got raped I had a 154/27 Lunchbox and a 34 attack Maple Shield, so it's all good. Two handed swords reach farther, though. So...meh. A 14 attack shield priobably won't do it.

1h sword isn't really worth it unless you have lots of funds. And I'd recommend using a Night Raven's Wing, since it's cheaper than a 1h + Shield combination and it has the same speed.

2h is superior until 120. Brandish with 1h and 2h have the same attacking distance, so beyond that it's based on how much you're willing to spend on equips.

Red Katana really isn't that good compared to a Fast 5 unless you're using Onyx Apple, so keep that in mind. And even so, the difference in DPM isn't too great.
