Honestly se provides the most raw damage, the difference in the amount of crits and the damage crits do is a pretty big difference at the stopping points of se. It also helps knockbacking bosses such as pap earlier, and will give the overall more damage over (x)bow advanced mastery.
Sn1perJohnE Wrote:Whys everyone still suggesting max SE so fast? Its only useful to get you into boss runs. I got SE to a long enough buff time and started on other things, seems more useful to go for raw damage over buffed damage.
A while ago I used some program a guy in SW made to plot out the SP distribution that maximizes DPS with Hurricane. As you can see, SE is a pretty low priority until you get the other two to 21, then it's distributed somewhat evenly. I would have left SE at 1 for as long as possible if I could, but level 1 SE isn't usable. I settled on 7.
People mostly get SE to 29 early because they think they'll be needed for SE at some point for bossing or training with an NL or whatever. You really shouldn't max it early if you train with a non-crit-based class, though I know some who have.
I'm currently a lv110 STR-less ranger using a 96atk/2dex Kandiva. I made a 117atk/3dex dragon shiner. My current range with the Kandiva is 2582. I ran some numbers and my range came out to be 2726 with the shiner. Should I slowly start converting to low-STR and use the shiner? The Kandiva is a fast speed bow and when I tried one a normal speed bow, it was noticeable slower. But I heard hurricane will make bow speeds insignificant? Is it worth it converting?

Its definately worth converting since strless loses out in the end anyways and you already have a shiner ready. Also, like you said, hurricane's speed isn't affected by other speed boosts such as booster and the bow speed.

The great thing about going low str or str less and then converting to medium/low/whatever str, is you can easily plan out what equips you want as str. Usually its best as low str, with enough str for a 115+ weapon thats lvl 100 to 120.
As nice as hurricane is, there's this delay when you stop it and I'm having a lot of trouble adjusting to it. When I train, I tend to stop firing and begin typing really soon because I want to finish writing before the next newtie spawns. This works with strafe but not so well with hurricane since I often begin pressing the letters before the animation ends and it registers that I pressed enter or the chat keys and I end up opening a bunch of windows and even getting on my mount. That's annoying but what's really bothering me is that I pot the same way and so I often have to stop again after I restart my shooting because the pot didn't register, or I would have to pause and wait to make sure the pot really worked. This is still tolerable during training but while I was fighting Latanica, by the time I realized the pot didn't work and stopped hurricane, he killed me before the delay ended. I'm wondering if there's any tricks or tips to help me adjust to it faster so I can freely use my main attack skill at bosses without worry, or do I just have to suck it up and get used to it?

Thanks, I didn't keep track of my washing, trying to see if I should wash any points back. I think I started at 70 or a bit before.
I'm on JMS so no deputy medal, I'm doing a 1 HP 4 Dex build with caped str at 65. I'm at 3231 HP @ level 98 so pretty good and I have points to either wash back or throw into HP.
Stupid fishing medal has no HP!~And 3rd job medal..

Hawk or Puppet?
Get a pet?
Or just get use to hurricane's timing.
Does booster speed up the start/end animations? I seem to recall that being said somewhere o_o
Otherwise i think you're just experiencing lag cause mine ends pretty on pointafter you let off the button.

comgratulations on the most uninformed post of 2010.
get some SE first. the first point in it boosts your crit damage a lot. Also, it's generally recommended to get boost before pierce, with the high base, the more mastery the better.
I know what u mean, but adding points to Pierce give more damage when u are mobbing than mastery, and SE doesnt benefit pierce like it does in other faster/multy atacks skills!
i'd get some SE sooner. at least to like 9 or something. SE does wonders for your other attacks like strafe (mostly it's just for the timer, but if you can afford higher go higher ) You could also do the one point of boost earlier just cause it 5% Up your mastery =P
