Awhile ago, I posted this thread to show how certain skills of the Aran affect everyone of their party and outside. However, I left the remaining question opened. Today, it was tested out if Combo Barrier would stack, indeed it does.
The concern was that if Combo Barrier would stack with certain damage reduction skills. Since Rage overlaps Onyx Apples, along with other skills such as Haste and a Speed Pot, would Combo Barrier overlap Meso Guard? Turns out it stacks.
Without Combo Barrier (with Meso Guard):
With Combo Barrier + Meso Guard (Oblivion Guard):
With Combo Barrier + Meso Guard (Chief Oblivion Guard):
Mess up:

What?
Why would it even work that way? It either stacks or overlaps. o.o
There has been nothing in the game that has done that from what I see.

Echo of Heroes stacks with other damage enhancement items/skills.

Echo is a % increase of W/M ATK. There is no other buff that does the same thing.

They are both damage enhancements. c:
Either way, the only logical terms of how buffs would work is either stack, overlap, or partial overlap. I didn't say you can't think like that, you just believed I did.

Except they aren't the same type of buff. I don't even know what other buff you're talking about.

You misunderstood when i said that. I meant "I don't give a f'uck if it's logical or not whether it would subtract or multiply. I'll think what i want."

That isn't a buff in the first place...

Steve... his reasoning makes sense. Given any two buffs or effects that modify the same thing, they tend to either cancel each other out (overlap) or one multiplies over the other (stack). It doesn't matter whether Echo gives %-attack and Barrier provides %-protection, the idea is the same.
In particular, there is no other %-modifier that stacks additively the way you described. No stat buffs, damage buffs, nothing - they all either multiply over other modifiers, or cancel them out. (Actually I've never heard of any %-modifiers canceling other modifiers either...)
Also, there is a very obvious case of two %-protection buffs stacking multiplicatively when applied together: cleric Invincible and Magic Guard.
In any case, there isn't much of a point arguing this because it's clear what actually happens.

GameMX Wrote:Going off Fiel's mob damage formula, they should be doing 3328 ~ 3536. Meso Guard renders 50% of that damage off, leaving it obviously at 1664 ~ 1768. With Combo Barrier and Meso Guard, the Shadower should only take 32% of the real damage, therefor the guardians will hit 1064 ~ 1131.
Touch Damage Range: 24500 ~ 26031
Shadower's Meso Guard (alone): 12250 ~ 13015
Shadower's Meso Guard w/ Combo Barrier (lv 30): 7350 ~ 7809
Warrior's Achilies (lv 30): 20825 ~ 22126
Warrior's Achilies (lv 30) w/ Combo Barrier (lv 30): 15925 ~ 16920
My first time looking at this. I'm wondering how you calculated that 32%. I can't get to 0.32 in any combination of mg and barrier I can think of.
Also, you used 0.32 for guardians and 0.3 for ht. Is there any reason for that?

Why wouldn't Combo Barrier stack? If it didn't it's downright useless, and examples of stacking could be seen already in game with Priests and Warriors.

Ok, so far this was a huge misunderstanding between all of us and incorrect on the math... I misunderstood Takebacker here and it seems everyone misunderstood everything else.
One big old derp...
Sorry Takebacker.

Wait what? Derp.

Still nice that it stacks in the first place. To clarify, ^ this is how it actually works. There is no way that an 18% reduction in damage can cause 1600 damage to drop to 1000.

Achiles is passive, so it stacks with power guard.
I'd like to know if it stacks with invincible. it seems the only buff of the same type that could overlap... not sure if power guard counts, due to its attacking effect
