Skill Distribution

'kay, so I changed it. Everything in third job is maxed except for Whirlwiind, at 11. If you really want to, you could leave it at 9 and put the points somewhere else (Booster?).

In 4th job you should switch MW and Tempest, seems like a really bad skill to use if they keep the 200 combo requirement.

Thanks for this. I would usually research things on my own, but I don't think I'm going to like the button mashing... Just making a few for rings. But it'd be good to not have completely messed up SP if I decide I do like them. Rolleyes

So you can intersperse Combat Step and Double Swing any way you want? Or, even stronger, the only thing you should do is get 15 Booster ASAP, and have the right amount in the rest of the skills by 30?

Basically, yes. You can move those skills around and experiment with the first job skills.

You have to do the entire first job chain of storyline quests (the ones that are marked "Required").

Pissed me off. I just did the cynical orange mushroom stuff and went off to grind to 32. Took another couple of hours to do the rest.

Just bringing this up.
Body Pressure is great for saving pots as well as Combo Drain. In maps like MP3, you could only get damaged by magic attacks. I bumped up 15 Body Pressure to after 8 Combo Drain to take advantage of the skill.

As for this booster vs step vs Double swing-
I was using a snowboard which is normal speed and while booster did help a bit it wasn't gamebreakingly better.
I'd say if you are using a snowboard or rose that combat step might be more useful if you like to move alot.
...
IMO I'd do booster again though.

In regards to Body Pressure, I'd say max it right after maxing combo smash. Since Smash just about 1hits everything I'm going to run into, from Roids to Slimies and such, more overswing damage isn't vital for training. Pressure, on the other hand, lets you keep up your combo with touch damage, and lets you pass through mobs a little more easily. I know the benefits of Drain, but I don't need to save that much in pots.

You say Smart knockback is maxed at lvl 87 but you max it late -- just a typo I saw. Otherwise good guide Smile and I really wish someone would've told me not to max triple swing first.. Hurt

I have a question.

Why would you work on Smart KnockBack so early? I, personally, don't see the point in it. At those levels, the monsters you're going to be training on will only have knockbacks of around 5,000, which you should be able to easily pull off at those levels. Would it be wise to switch around a skill like Fenrir in place of it? I'd love to see Fenrir in the build earlier than that. It seems more useful than a smaller knockback on mobs, considering it doesn't work on bosses (according to Aslemn).

If the goal is to have 20 Triple + 1 SP by 54, I think you could get 11(?) Drain after maxing Smash, then max Triple. 11 Drain isn't half bad. :/

How about a compromise with Drain and Take?

Just take out the 4 points from Take and put into Drain. You only lose 1 mob and 8% in damage, but get 1 more % from drain. Then you can max both of them later in 3rd job.

What? I only suggested adding Drain a few levels earlier. The end skill levels would be the same.

Sorry, I guess I was more responding to another person (in probably another thread) that said 11 drain was terrible. A little less damage for 1 more % isn't bad.

Edit: Oh wait a second, it was you XP

He said it isn't half bad, how did you mix that up with terrible?

If I remember correctly, 11 Drain is nice... but not potless training. lv 20 is potless.
Thus "not half bad", and worth having before ~40% extra damage from each Triple Swing.

I barely remember having 8 Drain now, to be honest, because I rushed through those levels so quickly. I agree, though I think 12 drain would be better if we were just doing it that way.
