i think versalmas cactus/snowboards are o___o i think they're all listed as "polearm" though.

The Valentine roses are held in one hand, but they take up both slots. It is like this on the Spearman description as well

Using a two handed polearm does not allow you to equip a shield, but all pole arms are "two handed"

Something tells me they copied and pasted it from another weapon and replaced sword, blunt weapon, or axe with polearm. Big deal.

THey coulda copy-pasta'd a better booster description like, oh spears perhaps. That way they didn't have to do so much work replacing 3 "sword"s and only put "polearm" in place of "spear"

Except for the fact that there are two different types of Polearms, 1H and 2H. For example, Roses are 1H Polearms, while, say, the Crimson Arcglaive is a 2H Polearm. The only difference from other 1H/2H things is that there is no difference between the two types, except for the way your character holds the weapon.
