Christmas in today's world
#1
where did the idea that Christmas is Jesus's birthday come from?
where did the idea for a large guy with a white beard and reindeer come from?

and there are people everyone buying presents like it's a requirement rather than a gift.

from what i know, Christmas probably started in 300ish ad when a saint named nick gave people presents.

Ok christmas is supposed to be jesus birth day, and the gift part is because the 3 wise kings or w/e they are called brought him gifts, so i guess you gift people gifts like a simbolic value...

But now, christmas became advertising itself... ruled by economy rather than the actual intention of it, bring people together and enjoy the gift of life?

Easter is when Jesus rose again.
Now a magical bunny hides eggs in your house.

I think that needs far more explaining than this.

I learned about this in sunday school.
It's a bit far fetched, but:

Aparently, when Jesus died they called it the birth of the church. So with birth, comes sex. And what has sex a lot? Rabbits.

The egg part, I don't know.

Jesus wasn't born on Christmas. There is no legitimate source of this, from what bible study guys told me.

I think the argument is, Jesus's birthday is celebrated on Christmas. But if this was true, why isn't Christmas a religious holiday? There are probably more non-Christians than Christians that celebrate Christmas.

It's because Christmas (or Jól, Winter Solstice, w.e. you guys call it. God riddance, I have only 4 hours of sun a day now.) was a pagan celebration because the sun turned and days became longer. The Christian Christmas commemorates Jesus' birth at this time, because it's way simpler to convert someone to another religion by having similar parties and festivals and stuff at the same time periods.

The same applies with Halloween as well, kind of.
