It reeks of babelfish translations or something, as the grammar isnt consistent and just... feels funny D: The nots should probably have "Do" before them or something, lol.

[spoiler=Here's Nexon calling Odin a god after suing it and getting it shut down]

Kevo Wrote:I like the way it's translated... *likes Fob English* It's not about the Asian style English, Kevin. It's about Nexon's laziness. It would probably take me 15-20 minutes to edit through all 6 santa encyclopedias to fix up the English mistakes and they didnt even bother with something so little.

You've given me inspiration to get these, thanks. I got a nice laugh from reading these out loud.

Is the translation that bad? I realize it's not perfect and Nexon certainly is not too.
Are the translators themselves completely fluent in American English at Nexon? Give them a break and on the bright side others are enjoying the translations ![]() (At least it's not in Singlish )
Kevo Wrote:Is the translation that bad? I realize it's not perfect and Nexon certainly is not too. It's not so much the fact that it's a bad translation, it's how the words string together. It just sounds completely awkward reading out loud, especially if you're reading it in a "Santa" voice. The Good Deeds list is funny in itself, because just read the crap. If you have an adult talking to you in such broken English lecturing you on what's a good deed, will the message really go through? "An example of a good deed is not to be greedy and help the others" I think "Follow the traffic order" is the best one in there though. One of these things are not like the other ~

I'm always spoken to in Broken English anyway, and English mixed in with Chinese...maybe I have reached the point where I'm just used to it?
Anyway, I suppose I just like the syntax/diction used by Asiasoft...

No offense, but the English is terrible, and shows that it was translated by a machine, or someone who doesn't speak English as a first language. Here are some really glaring examples... -Not to fight with your friends (Don't fight friends) -Follow the traffic order (Follow traffic orders) -Not to use vulgar words (Don't use vulgar words/don't curse) -Not to tell a lie (Don't lie) -Not to be greedy and help the others (Don't be greedy, help others) Nexon America is based in L.A. It shouldn't be that hard to hire someone in the area to do literally 5 minutes of work. |
