Whut but how!?

I think I have an old scania mule from 2+ years ago that still is wearing the red nose. Forgot the IGN but I remember seeing it on character select screen, but didn't log onto it.

I can test this later. I know it hasn't been logged into since 2007 or something.

Was kinda hoping someone knew so I could keep the nose forever, instead of being the guinea pig :[

Don't do it. I'd rather not find out than screw you over. Biggrin

Hmm... now thinking about it, I think maybe a server check or patch screwed it up.

It doesn't make sense that an item's expiration date would just stop registering.

I think I have a theory for game item's expiration dates.

They're a certain time frame within the "expiration date" listed that the item WILL expire. This could be anywhere between within a week to a few months.

I remember having logged into a character after a few months and my bunny didn't expire until a week later. It was rather interesting.

Maybe its the same thing with event items? I don't know just a rough theory.

The expiration date goes through a calendar maybe? like it'll take the computer/server a little while to go through a year? lol

That is strange. Also, my pet was supposed to die on 8/16/09. I quit for a few months and when I came back, the pet was still alive...weird?

It would be nice if we could keep 2x exp cards through the glitch. Though I doubt that would be possible.

I don't think it works with Cash Shop items. :f6:

But in the few posts above his, it was working on pets...unless those arent considered cash shop items?...

I'd have to go for there's a calendar for expiring items. If past 1 year, it should be forgotten, and just left as a note on the top of the item.

Pets just take a while to die after you log in... I remember my Rudolph lasted about an hour when I logged in after the expiry (but the looting crap was gone so it didn't matter much)

im really interested where the glitch is in the time system. does anyone know how the system works? does your client or server check expiration times? and howcome some items dont expire right away but minutes later?

There was a time when 2x exp cards lasted more than twice their time. 4hour 2x card lasted over 8hours, and a friend had them running for 12hours before she gave up and logged off. This was for a short time only, havn't seen it happen for a long time now. I think sometimes near the end of last year.

Is it possible the vendor set his computer clock to Dec 2007 before logging on to some old mule? Would that possibly work?

Not at all, the game runs on server time. Your client doesn't get any time information from your computer.

actually thats not 100% sure, i know at least 1 example where my computer time is being used instead of server time.

the 7 day market light bulb apears over my head exacly at midnight between friday and saturday, even though its not saturday in america yet. when i click it it gives an error and it wont go away till its actually saturday in america (6hours later). only then i can click the bulb and finish the quest.

same thing happens saturday to sunday when the actual market starts.
