So I got a job...

Delivering pizzas for Domino's. I'm kinda iffy about it now, though. I've been reading about previous driver's experiences with the job and some of them have not been so pretty. Actually, I'm pretty sure NONE have.

Then I read this.
I gotta say, I hope no one here resembles some of the ignorant assholes from this forum.

When you order (if you do) pizza, do you tip the delivery driver? The delivery charge doesn't even go to the drivers, so that's just ignorance on the customer's part and pimento-ishness on Domino's part not to give that to the driver.

Pizza delivery is considered a hazardous job by the US government. They are third most likely to be murdered on the job, right after police officer and taxi driver.

Pizza prices though seem to be kinda high, even for pickup. A medium pizza with 2 toppings is upwards of 17 dollars for pickup. :c\

If you live near a college, you'll get tons of money in tips. Everyone at my college tips, including me, and dominos is the only place that delivers to our campus and they deliver till 1 AM.

I'm pretty sure all the gas they burn is taken as a business expense even though it isn't the businesses car. Could be wrong though.

Yeah, that is pretty crazy. Though I think after reading some of these, I totally understand that. I read this one story about a girl raped and beaten while delivering pizzas. Sheesh.

And one about a guy who delivered pizzas in a car that was also used to delivery dead bodies. Ew.

I'm pleased to see that a lot of people think it's rude to tip less than 2 or 3 dollars. Really, I drive a fuel inefficient car, not by my choice, and gas will probably take a good $50 out of my check anyway. You can write it off in taxes...if they believe you run up hundreds of kilos in one night.

@Takebacker: My delivery range includes a black university. I go to a different university in my area but it's not in my range. I wish it was, though.

I tip 10-20% depending on how the change breaks down and I'm paying cash. If it's online for Insomnia Cookies or something, I just go a straight 10%. I'm not so poor a college student I'm an pimento to the lifeblood of my weekend diet.

3$ is usually fine. If everybody tipped 3$...I don't think anyone could complain (very much).

Just cause theyre rich doesnt mean they like to give poor people money :c| and thats why there is class envy.

When I was 14, I used to work in a diner which a middle-aged woman named Jessie used to visit rather frequently. She'd always order the same thing: one fried peanut butter and banana sandwich and one glass of white wine (I forget the exact label). She'd leave us $50 bills for tips.

people like myself refuse to work in the food industry at that level. i myself never knew all of this, but whenever id order from anywhere, pizza/chinese, id always at least give 3~5 bucks as tip. one day i gave a guy 10 because of how quickly he got to my place; man on the phone said 45 minutes, guy was at my door in 15. i was impressed.

I order my pizza online with my mum's card, so I don't tip. I pay by card because there's no f'ucking money in my house, so don't stand there creating awkwardness waiting for your tip.

Tipping the pizza man is not customary in my country. But it didn't stop three little punks tipping one with a deadly baseball bat to the head. Please be careful =[

Most places in England aren't that. Tips are completely up to the customer here. Some places do add a service charge, so we don't tip afterwards.
