Original General Dungeon Fighter Thread
25 is even worse, because Castellan's Chamber quests don't take long to finish.. at least on my part.

Right now it's STILL only Dragonoid's Kings for my potfarm runs, and Floating Castle for grind runs. It doesn't get better until 27, which is when Behemoth unlocks.

At least at 25 I unlock more class related goodies; I KNOW I'm going to enjoy my future new skill Star in the Sky; invincible during the entire attack and seems incredibly fun to charge up. Being 25 will also let me equip a level 25 weapon if I find one. I'm still using my class trainer related level 15 purple weapon that I got from doing a Priest exclusive quest. It's just that powerful that a level 15 weapon is better than any normal level 20 Priest weapon that I can find. Frown

*Thanks for the heads up on how much more dead levels I will encounter for 2x. I now have something to look forward to relatively soon (Behemoth).
Har har leveling you say?

This is 2 days worth of leveling:

Because the game is exactly the same everywhere. Yeah.

Tongue
well, be happy, once you get to outer wall you'll enjoy it xd

Outer wall is boring. Use up too much mp and need mp pots and monsters don't do anything except the Lotus. Jungle just sucks. Trees are ungrabbable and they leave fire when you hit them so you can't combo. Purg is decent. Stalkers suck though same with superarmor hunters/alex/rolling thing. Silver night is disgusting. Blimps and wisps are terrible. Just gotta grind it out to first spine.

And I hate First Spine because of the boss D:

Behemoth sucks.
Just thought I'd share one of my awesome PvP experiences.

All he needed to do was resurrect half way through one of my matches and I would've been sold.

I just can not understand this coming from a Witch... Behemoth should be so easy for you. Every boss except Lotus himself should be done without taking any damage, on any difficulty. All the dungeons except Second Spine can be cleared without pots (even on King's full clears! assuming you get a fairy or two).

Why? Why does Behemoth suck? Why do you dislike Giant Octo?

I don't UNDERSTAND? Argh!

I noticed you mentioned somewhere you haven't touched Magic Missle since level 17 or something. If so, there is your problem! Why would you abandon any skill? MM is so helpful against certain bosses, especially Giant Octo! If you spam that against him during Chain Florae/Swatter downtime, he will never be able to use any attacks. Unless that isn't possible using Leather or something...
Magic Missle is terrible. My normal dusted attacks are 10x faster and do twice as much damage. Even my undusted attacks hit about as much as uncharged Magic Missles. I only have +10% cast speed. Why would I Magic Missle when I could just as easily approach with a dash attack or a Dragon Fang?

I don't understand how I'm supposed to be fighting the giant Octo. I have to have like perfect timing to Manteau him out of the spinning attack. I can't tell where he is on the Z-axis, either.

I made a post earlier about why I dislike Behemoth. I don't have trouble clearing it, it's just not fun.

That's your downfall against Giant Octo. You're thinking far too simply. Magic Missle has speed (especially for Cloth wearers) and RANGE. Power is not everything. Strategy will serve you far better in this fight. Besides, you don't have to tell me about Dusting. I'm almost always Dusted 100% of the time, too. However, I realized there's times with better ways to do things. I would never deem any of my skills "useless."

In all the countless times I've fought Giant Octo, I have only seen him use his crazy spin attack four times. Four. Two of those was when I was duoing with someone (which included my first ever fight against him). You should never have to worry about him even attempting to use the spin if you know how to fight him. Spam MM from outside his poison/bleeding inducing range and attack him with Chain Florae and Swatter every chance you get. Cast a Rain over him for added quickness in victory (not necessary, though).

He should be one of the simplest bosses you face in DFO.
Wow the blimps are just stupid... outer wall is fun for me, but the next 3 stages are just... long and stupid...

Dendroid: ungrabable enemies, set one fire chaser of and I'm toast, literally.
Hunters: god dammit massive super armors, poison and confuse...
Blimps:.... Blimps

I can't spam MM. I can seriously hit twice with my broom in the time it takes to use MM once. MM costs MP. It barely has any more range than my broom. MM is useless without a lot of cast speed bonuses.

I did fight the Octo again, and I got better at doing it. I just dash and attack twice, land, walk back a bit, and do it again.

Leather is really that bad? MM can attack outside the bleed/poison induce range. The broom can't unless you're using Dragon Fang (maybe), which can't be spammed. That's what matters to me.

I've never used Leather, so forgive me. I didn't realize the gap was so huge. I guess hearing this makes me happier thinking about the things Cloth has enabled me to do. lol Never getting hit by Giant Octo on King's solo? And it's a fast kill.

Cloth gives you a 50% cast speed bonus. I have 10% from an avatar. There's a reason mages have trouble pre-advance without full cloth gear.

I might use MM again after the patch, but right now it just doesn't do anything except waste MP.
There's little reason for a Witch to wear Leather, then. I never did understand why some wear it. After the patch, I can totally understand. Already? What the heck. The only reason I could see wearing it now is for pure-broom PvP, which is retarded. You would never be able to use Gravitas without a huge Cast Speed bonus. Unless you're playing against a retard. It would cripple the usefulness of Rain, as well. Forget being able to MM spam as a back-up tactic.

Whatever floats your boat, I guess. The only mage that should have to deal with Leather problems is a Battle Mage. You're inflicting pain on yourself for no good reason.
How so? I don't need cast speed except for setting up Acid Rain/Lava Potion/Jackyl every 30 seconds.

I PvP like a battlemage with an aerial juggle and dash. I use Dragon Fang and Weapon Uppercut a lot.
And apparently it makes you unable to MM spam, which is like one of my favorite tactics. You may argue its usefulness, but it's helped me tons. I'm talking like a machine gun, man. That crap is awesome. Keeps people away from you in PvP and keeps bosses in check.

Heck, I'll share a relevant story. Just a week or so ago, I was partying with a friend from MS who also has a Witch. She was 39. I was 40. After seeing what Cloth can do, she switched. "Wow you cast fast. I'm switching." Seriously. She was hooked, my friend. Hooked. People envy the Cast Speed because it is delicious.

Once you get to 40 and experience how slow Gravitas casts, you might be rethinking some things. Or you're forever going to rely on only your broom. While I'll be whipping out my spells and THEN attacking you with my broom.

I fight a lot like a Battle Mage (I even HAVE a Battle Mage--level 28), too. Always did. Always will. I've mentioned it in threads before. I had Fang, Uppercut and Blast since the beginning. Frequently use. But why be just a Battle Mage with a fancy air juggle, when you can be a Battle Mage (with a fancy air juggle) and an Elementalist (without the aiming)? That's right.
So...

Anyone selling a Battle Master (Level 40 Axe) or a level 40 Purple Scythe? I need new weapons now that I have money.

MM spam doesn't seem that useful when I already have three skills that set half the map off-limits to the opponent. I don't need it to keep people away from me, I just fly away and throw Jackyl everywhere.

I don't have Gravitas yet, so you might be right there. But Acid Rain and Lava Potion aren't nearly slow enough for anyone to catch me while using them, and they're not my primary source of damage. Death Dust hits hard. Uppercut-Dragon Fang-Juggle until weight kicks in-Palm Blast-Flyswatter is enough for me.
