our school had the vacctination today

also some ppl had to go home because the vacctination made them sick or just not feel good :f6:

It's optional at my college. Pretty sure it's optional everywhere else, but forced on anyone under that school level is pretty weird. Not sure if it's rage worthy though.

I gave them the finger.. Never got the flu shot before, unless when I was like 10...

I'm supposed to get it eventually *shrugs*.

Hmmm, here in The Netherlands only the "risk groups" got their (voluntary) double mexican / swine flu shot....

The risk groups were:
- Very weak people who were already very sick from some other decease & close people around those (family)
- Babies
- Little Children (till about 6 years old I thought)
- Pregnant women
- Medical personnel
- Old people (60+)

The rest of the people didn't even get an invitation... reason: The Mexican / Swine Flu is just as "dangerous" as any normal other flu, the only thing that is different, that the chance of getting "infected" it is a bit higher since it's a newer mutation...

Funny detail is that our Minister of Healthcare bought 34million vaccines, so he was sure he had enough for everyone, and now, since only a couple of million were used, he's reselling the rest with profit to other countries around us... lol... so typically dutch... making profit everywhere :+)

Sounds like the people that had reactions were allergic to what the vaccine was made out of. Which is their own fault for even trying to get one. H1N1 vaccine is made the same way the seasonal flu vaccine is made. If you're allergic to one you're allergic to the other.

You can't get sick from the vaccine. They aren't putting anything in your body that would make you get sick.

My parents have been constantly bugging me to get the vaccine, and I've constantly said no.

Basically, from what I've heard, after getting the vaccine, you have a 30% chance of getting sick for the next few days. This would mean Im trading my low odds of getting, and even lower odds of dying of the swine flu for a 1/3 chance of getting sick for the next few days?

No thanks, I'll take my chance with the swine flu.

Well if you think they aren't identical, please tell my doctor that.

I got one because I have asthma and live in a state with an insane amount of cases. Not to mention my school district has cases of it right now. I was also told the same thing that 7-14 days after the shot I can still get sick. I'll take those chances. I'd rather be safe then sorry since my immune system is compromised. I go out with a face mask on anyways lol.

I'm positive I got H1N1 already, so I'm not bothering with the shot.

Yes.

Getting sick from the vaccine isn't your fault and often has nothing to do with allergies.

Flu-shots are nasty. I plan to never get one.
