Pages and FA
#1
I am making a page and was wondering if I should bother getting FA, it seems like it would be useless for mobbing. But is it worth getting anyways? :f6:

It's better than any of the alternatives (2nd weapon mastery? Iron body?)

It is generally useless for mobbing though, you do about the same damage with or without FA. But it brings up single target damage significantly, and WKs are pretty weak there.

I'd get it at the end of 2nd job since you can use Charge Blow to mob in 3rd.

Well, if it makes it about the same as you say I guess I will get it. I will just save points after I max PG and max it all in one go. I find low level FA a little annoying and not that useful.

Another question I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to: Fire or ice first when I get WK?

@Dusk: Charged Blow isn’t really that great of a mobbing attack, since spamming it after rebuffing is slow and weak. It’s only real purpose in 3rd job is to use it as it’s about to expire, or to cancel out your elemental charge. It’s real purpose is in 4th job, for Advanced Charge.

@dominic: Personally, going fire first is the best way, since there’s just about nothing weak to ice at the level 80 range (or their spawn/map sucks).

My friend Foxxorz stated that CB training was really slow and pot consuming since you have to re-cast your element and take damage while doing it, and it costs a fair amount (for a warrior) MP wise to do repeatedly.

Fire charge first is likely your best bet. There's a White Knight in my guild who's been leveling at a decent rate using it against ghost pirates in Ludi. I don't have much suggestion beyond that, though.

Charge Blow, should you choose to get it after maxing an element charge, should NOT be used as a primary attack. Used correctly and sparingly, it can be a pot saver however.

For a White Knight, you can sneak in a few points on Ice Charge just to have fun with it or mainly to travel around. Obviously it's no good for El Nath, but who wants to take an unnecessary hit in the face otherwise?

^^^I did Dual Ghost Pirates. The spawn is much better, and they also drop Steely Throwing Stars, not to mention Down Jump was added a patch or two after I was done training there. >_> Changing channels once in a while to save climbing helps.

They also drop Black Crystal and Power Crystal Ores too ^_^

Man I miss the days when there were Dual Ghost Pirate parties...

I've only played a WK on a private server so he's probably right, but I thought Charge Blow + recharge did more damage than SB.

I can see how that goes though, it consumes a fair bit of mp and rebuffing takes a bit. But if it could go chargeless it would be pretty sick. Just if you could use it chargeless.

It does do slightly more damage if you have a slow weapon - recasting elemental charges is a constant time afaik so if you have a fast weapon it's better to just SB.

I mostly used CB for the stun - BW KB is kinda pitiful (especially with slash blast), so I'd stun a mob of Grims, Powerstrike the first to death, stun them again, etc.

I heard people mostly don't hunt Grims at all anymore so that's kinda out of date. CB is not much help on Red Wyverns.

I should really point out this part is only true if the mob size is exactly 3 and only if you're considering mob DPS, not the damage's distribution. If it is 4 or more, Slash Blast is *much* stronger in all ways without FA than it is with it. If it's 2 or less... why are you using SB?

Getting FA was the second biggest mistake with my WK(after choosing sword, instead of going BW... Frown)

I didn't know that CB canceled my charge, so and it really
reduces character control.

BW is nice for damage, but not if you are going to boss a lot. I have seen sword type make way better times, even minutes faster.
