In a poor attempt to rationalize this post.. How did you guys learn to type the keyboards? And how do you type it as of now?

I never had any conventional practice, I just went by what was most convenient for me back during the first time I came into contact with the computer. Right about now I type with mainly 4 fingers, maybe 5.

I retrained myself on Dvorak about... I think 3 years ago, now. I basically went by an online touch typing course that went through each letter and practiced with permutations of certain letters, and such. I also temporarily set my desktop background to the keyboard layout and restricted myself to only typing Dvorak, as to familiarize myself with the positions of the keys.

Even before then, though, I've touch typed the "proper" way. At least part of that was typing classes in primary school. Come to think of it, my sisters should be able to touch type by now... I'm not sure they can. Hm.

Do you think I should retrain myself? I tried to once, but in the middle I became lost as to why I should.

Only if you like. I did it for "fun", and it was during holiday when I didn't need to type anything useful, so not much of a loss.

The point is that it's the best way to translate electricity into information. Each combination of 0s and 1s are simply electrical currents. Each 1 is a little current, while each 0 is the lack of it. It translates itself into a computer, by combining them to make proper information displayed.

In fact, it works wonders with the internet, to send information.
