....That'd be.. "SSHFL+WaveShine, rinse+repeat" for the entire match. <_< But I think that was your point...

@Mark: Stfu, you just have no skills, homie.

If it wasn't, why do people make bragging-rights equipment threads on MS? It's technically the same. You can't expect to prove me wrong by doing that.. rofl. Most gamers will play to 'prove' bragging rights.

TL;DR: Before you enter a thread thinking you're the almighty-badass over-inflated genius that you are, realize first that you're a message board in which people DO have threads about a game called "MapleStory" in which they brag about their:

a) Gear
b) DMG
c) Popularity status
d) etc

So don't try your wise-ass comments on me.

Why do people even bother playing Melee/Brawl competitively? Even Halo is more legit. I can't even imagine it being an enjoyable experience unless you're surrounded by a dozen other neckbeards at a LAN party.

At least you've decided to move on from Brawl and back down to Melee. I guess I gotta give these boys credit for their work on Super Smash Brothers. I mean, it's the only game made by Nintendo that you can even be competitive at, even if it's a joke in comparison to games actually meant to be competitive.

If you look at the history of competitive Smash, even the competitive Smashers who went like this:

Melee (played comp. for 4+ years) -> Switched to Brawl -> Went back to Melee because Brawl was boring.

Melee is still popular, and on-going. Hell, go to SmashBoards, I'm not kidding, you'd be surprised how many people plays competitive Smash. Hell, the timing of a SHFFL is significant in a match.

And before you think competitive Smash is glitching, let me BREAK IT DOWN for you.

S.H.F.F.L. = Short Hop Fast Fall L-cancel.

1) Short hop, you light tap the JUMP bottom or UP analog stick.
2) Fast fall, you PRESS DOWN as soon as you jump, thus executing a very LOW jump that's incredibly fast.
3) L-cancel, you cancel out of a technique.

Not glitching. Wave-dashing is only considered 'glitching' by people that plays it casually because we all know they get pissed when they get beat. That's how gaming and gamers are, period. And lastly, rarely will people even "Wave Dash" in a real match.

Here's another Smash lingo to prove that competitive Smash isn't "glitchingz", Dash-Dance, you tap left and right repeatedly really fast. So your character moves back and forth really fast.

Edge-hogging/grabbing, grabbing the edge after the opponent falls off the stage so they can't jump back on and grab ahold of it, etc. Point being, it's not glitching.

Only contraversal "glitch" is wavedash. All other glitches aren't even that helpful. Only other one that is relatively helpful would moonwalking and that's just to look fancy. L-cancel has been in since 64 (brawl has the autocanceled aerials rather than manual). Dash dancing is just turning around before you slide (brawl has this too). Edgehog is pretty is self explanatory, having two characters hold onto a ledge in a 2D fighter wouldn't really make sense.

You may think smash is a joke for competition but obviously a lot of people don't as the game series has been competitive for over 10 years >_>. And comparing fps to a fighter is apples to oranges. Go ahead and compare us to street fighter too. Only the arrogant people will argue which is "better".

You'd think if brawl was so awesome, why do people bother changing it so much? Brawl+, balanced brawl, even brawl- now.

A game is only competitive if the players that play it want to compete. A company can't automatically "make" a game competitive if no one wants to play it.

your TL;DR was longer than what came before it...

same here. i myself am slanted in never having played this game, nor ever having owned a nintendo system after the 64, but i just dont see how/why this game is so special, outside of "OMGAWD, PIKACHU JUS KILLED LINK!" and all kinds of fanboy nerdgasm-indusing moments.

Oh hey, I won the Stanley/Fifa cup. Like that's something to brag about.

Oh hey, I caught a 700 foot fish. Like that's something to brag about.

I don't understand why because it's a video game it makes it lame. It takes skill to do and is a form of entertainment/competition just like football/soccer/basketball.
