"MapleStory 2"

DeanNim Wrote:@above, maha is only visible to arans who have reached level 30 and have lirins quest done.

Oh, right, I forgot about that.

Then why didn't they do the same for quests such as Aran's pre-quests? I think making a NPC disappear wouldn't be harder than making one appear (which is already a feature implemented in the client), and they could make it so that if you already did that pre-quest, it wouldn't show up anymore. Same for Moira in the HT entrance. Well, they didn't have that system back then. But yeah, they could make it so that she doesn't appear in the cage anymore and she appears in another place in the map before the Cave, after you did that HT quest.

Hopefully MapleStory 2's developers won't be as lazy as MapleStory's. Tongue

I'd rather see new classes than revamp the old ones. But I don't see why they cant do both anyway.

revamping is much more ideal as people return to their adventurers after playing the new class. Unless it is a new player who have decided to play that class in the selection window.

For who? Pretty sure Nexon can make more money with the new classes and seperate cash shops.

It's a totally different game.

I think they're going to do something more than just that.

It'll be the sequel of MapleStory, but many things will change.

I REALLY hope that there are some new training places for lv 140+ characters, the game is severely lacking when it comes to content for lv 140+.

QFT. Hopefully GMS will compensate in that area with Masteria updates, since it seems KMS is completley neglecting the high level community. Other than that, I guess people could try Neo Tokyo maps if they REALLY get bored of oblivion 4.

Someone said on the Nexon Forum (lol, I know) that MapleStory was 2 was basically Version 2 (seeing how the KMST patch is 1.2.69), which made sense to me, but it just didn't seem to fit based on the wording of Spadow's post. I hope Nexon doesn't break MapleStory into THREE games, because that's absolutely horrific. And if it goes 3D after all, people are gonna pick WoW over it because the 2D charm is a charm for a reason. Maple will be a more generic MMO, but have crappier systems, communities, and glitches. Keep it as ONE game, and if you want to break it to at least 3D, let this MapleStory 2 be like Maple SEA's Episode 1/2 for their MS branch.

I'll be a hero soon (have been, but today makes me a step closer), and though I don't see them often, I know that any dawn warrior who passes me is gonna think I'm such a weak nub. And because I don't level at an intense rate, it's gonna be that way for a long time. Adventurers HONESTLY need better upgrades than color changes to skills. Give them some more awesome storylines like Nexon America did (even if the limit was dumb, I don't see the other countries working on adventurer-exlusive yet worth-doing quest lines). Cygnus, Aran, Evan, all have Black Wings and crap involved. Not saying adventurers need that, but they're just... there.... If you know what I'm trying to get at.

There's been talk of a maplestory in 3d for a while - perhaps Maplestory 2 is what it is? It would make sense.

Moonlapse Wrote:The backgrounds (and the art direction in general) are amazing, and drew me into the game as well. However the sprites could use some more texturing and detail.

Hmm, I agree to some extent, but since 2.5D would be terrible in this game (too many variations of sprites would make the file size huge yet still have sub-KartRider level graphics Tongue), but the only way I see this potentially working is by increasing the game's resolution; and everything related. The problem with this is that sprites are a difficult thing to re-size and change ratios. In order to get the extra details we'd like, we'd have to increase the size of the characters; but do that, and the large heads we have already may look odd as can be. However, if you shrink the heads too much, you lose the original style. It would have to be done by real professionals, but if they manage to do it right, I'd love to see it. Granted, this would still likely increase the game's size by at least 75% (throwing numbers out of nowhere by the way).

I suppose that in and of itself would be worthy of calling 2.0, but it would take far longer than this estimated date.

Did they ever follow through with that? I lost track of it when I came to MS over 4 years ago.

If anything Maplestory 2 will be a major content update to the current game. It would be bad business seeing as it is prying away the work of many on which they spent money on.

If Maplestory 2 is a completely different game, and Maplestory continues to be updated normally, it would be a different story. But really, what are the chances of that.

Yes they made Ragnarok 2 and it's pretty fun they made it nicely, don't know when we would see it in america though..

Back on the subject, I've thought about Maplestory being updated one day to 3D, I don't really know who hasn't but.. I don't think Nexon would do that seeing the success of Maplestory and how it's basically defined everywhere as the first 2D MMORPG, which is something i'm sure they're proud of and wouldn't want to change the classic feel of a 2D game that made it so popular in the first place. My opinion is just a major change in how the game is played , skills, classes , maps , monsters, story line and revamped graphics but I think they'll try their hardest to keep the old feel to it, but juice it up enough for the old players, with all these maplestory fan sites in every single language possible, there is no doubt in my mind that they've read at some point of what people want in this game, I know nexon has let us down so many , many times, but i'm getting a good vibe of "this is gonna be epic" going on. =D

I've been proposing this for months. The introduction of all of the new classes should be leading into a spin off or a sequel to Maplestory. The game is in a sense coming to an end with its current plot (by coming to an end I'm only implying within the foreseeable future).

For all of you panicking over the first game entirely shutting down, simmer down a bit and think for a second. Not exactly MMO's, but many times when a new game comes out in a console game there is never an entire transition. Many people still play the game before it because they enjoy it more than its successor.

Anyways, this has me pretty excited. I'd like to see a new game, a new story line, and some revamped sprites and completed quest lines. The idea of the game taking place in the past seems like a plausible (and cool) idea Big Grin

Well, if Nexon is still planning updates for winter of 2010 and summer of 2011 (That's how I read it, people keep saying summer of 2010 but why would winter be mentioned first? Maybe it's stupid Spadow, especially since I wasn't able to translate that interview on Google), this MapleStory 2 shouldn't be coming around for a long time. And you can't have the Black Magician without all of the legend classes, so we've got some time. The Black Magician IS the plot, so if we have to wait for all these classes (otherwise Nexon's using Nexon AMERICA's logic) just to see the Black Magician, what new plot is there to come?

Seventh grade teacher loved to say "Simmer down". We mocked it, but I hated hearing it from her. Your logic is true, but you don't spend hundreds and THOUSANDS of dollars extra just to progress! 35 bucks for 6 hours, kay. Five thousand dollars for a million hours!? Then they deleted the link to MapleStory.exe and your life was finished. You became BROKE! Do note the lovely exaggeration~ Rolleyes

Unless the Nexon Forum was right for once about MapleStory being Version 2.##.#, which I'm finding less likely by the hour, SCREW MAPLESTORY 2. Frown Just update MapleStory 1 and keep all of the players. It seems hard to notice, but for the NX-rewarding event last year when you invited "friends", tons of people invited themself. These accounts were to credit toward new people. I bet you they made a hundred new players and thousands of accounts coming from repeating IPs.... MapleStory 2 coming out to try to steal MapleStory 1 away will just unven things, maybe things will be equal. But why play MapleStory 1 when you could play MapleStory 2? Or why play MapleStory 3D when you could be playing WoW? Poor points, but Nexon's trying to run themselves into the ground! Leeching coming to GMS will be a downfall, but if the 6 million users in North America are depended on to support both or all three games in a few years and they have to advertise through the devilishly SILLY commercials they use, I personally have a lack of hope.

Unserious Reply Besides the Bold: Now, I'm not complaining about inappropriate stuff on a Nexon website or being given comebacks all across the Funhouse, but I'm Mr. Flamebait anyway... fire away~

Serious Reply Besides the Bold: To be honest, I'm not exactly that concerned right now, but I don't want a MapleStory 2. I've wasted a lot of time to play a game, which I've enjoyed, but starting all over again is gonna be a bit much. Unless they can repair the senseless grinding featurette of the game, I honestly don't know what will tie me in to a fancied-up game that's already grasped the world. It's a world of gimmicks. This game we all play now has plenty of them, but they don't need to give the circus any more clowns or trapeze artists. I guarantee you I'm gonna end up playing this game and looking like a hypocrite, but at time of writing... Nexon has more viable options if you ask me.

Again, you're assuming that MS2 means the death of MS1, which it absolutely in no way does. There is no indication that Maple Story would be closed down if Nexon made another project, and the notion alone is ridiculous. Why would the close down such a profitable project for an unsure one? Assuming they stick with the same basic side-scrolling, MS2's success is almost guaranteed, of course, but in no way does that mean MS would be history. Nexon is a company, and it's all about money. Guaranteed success = guaranteed revenue. Nexon loves money. Two sources of income are better than one. MS1 and MS2 will almost assuredly co-exist assuming they are two separate games.

I'ma stick to my belief that Nexon will do the right thing and transfer all of the charater data. (Note: I didn't read everyone's post- just assuming from prevoius 10 posts)
Also hope the Maple 2 will be more balanced.
